A bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth visiting, especially if you enjoy art in the form of cartoon and movie animation character sketches.Enjoyable for all ages with art from every generation. Lots of places to sit and just soak in at the artwork.

A smallish museum with a combination of four static and changing exhibition spaces. The static displays illustrate the history of cartoon and illustrations from the early C20th to the modern day, with some real gems within the collection such as a Schultz Peanuts drawing. Worth a visit to idle the time in between the bigger attractions of San Francisco for... More

The museum is a bit small but that isn't really a problem. All the exhibits are very interesting. Also, they're amusing enough to take you away from reality for at least an hour. And the museum's little comic & souvenirs shop sells nice and not so expensive gifts. It's worth visiting it.

Does not offer a ton of stuff but the exhibits are pretty genuine and interesting. The book store offers some unique and pertinent items and the staff is friendly.

Came upon this place while waiting for my husband to get done with a meeting. Took me about two hours to walk through the museum and also enjoy the gift shop. Small fee to get into the museum, but the gallery was very informative.

This is one of those gift shops that you almost forget it is attached to a fun museum. Staff was lovely.

This is a fun small size museum that I have enjoyed visiting. When one reads the comics, one forgets sometimes about the amazing artwork behind the cartoons. This is the museum where the comics are displayed as art. There are a variety of events here as well. I usually check their web site to find out what is going on,... More

I've been a member for years, and I love this museum. About 40% of the museum is a gallery for their permanent collection of a broad swath of cartoons, from the start (back to Krazy Kat originals, etc) to today. There are two other galleries that typically show different exhibits that change several times a year. Some of these exhibits... More

We love cartoon art. Since we were visiting San Francisco, we wanted to see what Cartoon Art Museum had to offer. On display were several varied shows from Ninja Turtles to original or print art from Herriman, Gorey, Schulz and more. We won't be in San Fran when they open an upcoming show featuring art and puppets from Laika Studios... More
