We were very excited to find a museum dedicated to our mutual interest--cartoons on the internet when planning our trip to San Fran. My husband is an academic who teaches about political cartoons and graphic novels, and I'm just a fan. The museum itself is a tiny thing and the exhibits were very modest. The exhibit dedicated to Mad Magazine... More

It was a boring and flat museum. It did not provide depth and berth of cartoon history. Plus, the person who greeted us and took our money was sleeping. We woke her up. More

My hubby and 11 year old daughter love comics so this was a must see for our trip. They both thoroughly enjoyed it and I found it interesting as well. Definitely worth a visit if comics are your thing. More

We visited this museum MLK weekend. Although small, it has many interesting exhibits. There were a couple of special exhibits going on that were really good (Looney tunes and political cartoons.) I wouldn't make a trip to San Francisco just to see it but if you are down in that museumy area, I would check it out. PS really not... More

At $6, admission to the Cartoon Art Museum costs much less than other San Francisco attractions, yet I still felt I was overcharged. The museum is small, dreary, and provides information about the history of cartoons that the average person probably already knows. The animation portion of the exhibit has a "screening area" consisting of nothing more than a video... More

It is small. That said, it had a wonderful collection of original cartoon art. We loved the political cartoons and took a trip down memory lane with the Disney ones. Go to the website for current exhibit info as they apparently shuffle it around pretty regularly. Worth the $6 and the 1 hour it will take to see it! Remember,... More

The Cartoon Art Museum is accurate to its name. It really is an art museum. Just as an art museum does not talk about how oil painting is done, the Cartoon Art Museum does not spend much space if at all on how cartoons get drawn and inked throughout the years. It showcases cartoons/comics as art, and gives history on... More
