Great little museum, friendly desk staff, friendly gift shop staff. The museum is small, only large enough for a couple of exhibits, but they do well with what they have. The Sandman Exhibition was AWESOME.

It was a good finding to know about the Cartoon Art Museum (thanks for the clerk in the Dysney store for the good tip). Although small, the collection is interesting and for my good fortune we had the opportunity to see the Sandman exposition ! It is really very good and i highly recommend it, specially because even Neil Gaiman... More

I'm not a huge cartoon fan, but enjoyed many of the pieces that brought back Sunday paper memories from my youth. The pieces really do run the gamut of very early cartoon drawings from earth 20th century to the present.

It is just a big Neil Gaiman homage - and there is not very much more. I have nothing against Gaiman, actually I love him but I expected more. I appreciated Popeye, the Peanuts, Felix and so on, but there was just not enough about it all. Nothing about the Avengers for example... while in the bookshop you find plenty... More

I had some time to kill in San Francisco between an appointment and meeting up with a friend. I'd seen the Cartoon Art Museum online and thought I would walk over and check it out. It was totally worth it! This is a small museum - maybe more like a gallery - but the space is nice and the exhibits... More

I was expecting a structured museum on the story of comics and I left the place quite disappointed. The temporary exhibitions were OK and showed interesting drawings of local artists but unfortunately the regular exhibition tells and show very little on the evolution of cartoons. The tables and drawings are shown in a rather confusing way, so that it isn't... More

My teenage daughter who is studying to be an illustrator was mildly impressed. It's a very small museaum and not very interesting. Entrance fee is expensive for what it is.

I work with artists in animation and print art so I had to visit this small downtown museum. On the walls are one or two original works by a wide range of comic strip and other print artists. A few very early artists are represented by original newspapers from the early part of the 20th Century. Most of the art... More

I thought it had a great range of works, interesting histories and I discovered a new cartoonist to read. Richard Thompson's Cul De Sac was so cool in the museum that I later bought a few of his books.

The bookstore has quite a lot of Japanese manga. (Wonder why they like yaoi manga, hahaha...) There's an SketchArt exhibition at that time, love i! This museum is small, and definitely can use an upgrade of its collection of American cartoon.
