This part of San Francisco is interesting because Yerba Buena Gardens is about a block off of Market, and sandwiched between the Museum of Modern Art (closed until 2016 for rennovations) and the Metreon. Lovely fountains, nice grassy area, and on a sunny day really lovely. So lots to do, lots of food options, yes, there can be peculiar people... More

I just was out walking and it was close. I was really impressed by the fountains and peace of the area. It's too bad that there was human... excrement... in one place. San Francisco has so many homeless and it seems there should be a better solution for them and the city then the way it is. That said, it's... More

I was really glad to have this park within walking distance of my hotel. It has a nice playground that let my 3 1/2 year old spend some energy before bed time. The MLK memorial was really nice also.

I was here during GDC 2015. Superb place to take breath during a break. Green and peacefull, worth to stay and rest a little.

I love Yerba Buena Gardens, and I am a bay area native and SF is like home to me. Yerba Buena gardens is adjacent has a carousel and lovely areas for pictures. There is a lovely coffee house with light sandwiches and tables. There are many cafes and restaurants in the area to grab a bite to eat. It is... More

A very peaceful place to spend some time if you just want to get away from it all. The main feature here is the waterfall in the center of the park, be sure to walk up to top part of it. There are some other interesting things in here like the 5 legged man. Definitely worth a visit if your... More

I walked the Yerba Buena Garden everyday from my hotel to the Moscone North. It was a pleasant walk with beautiful scenery. It gave me a pleasant aura and disposition during our busy time at work at the convention center. The place is clean and well maintained. There are restaurants nearby including Starbucks and fast food restaurants. It is also... More

The exhibit comes down at the end of January, but if you were into the Riot Grrrl movement in the 90s-00s at all, don't miss this exhibit. There is a lot to take in. Generally, I like the programming here. Sometimes the connection between the aesthetics and concept is obtuse, but in other cases like Alien She, it's very accessible.... More

the kids loved running around here and the adults were able to chill. Love this little oasis in the concrete jungle.

These gardens are right beside the north and south units of the Moscone Convention Center, and I stumbled upon them the third day of a five-day conference. I wish I had found the place earlier, since it is a peaceful spot to take a break from business. The waterfall, with Martin Luther King, Jr. quotations inscribed on panels beneath it,... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
