I am a San Francisco native and have been to Golden Gate Park too many times to count, but believe it or not, I never rented a boat on Stow Lake. If you are going to the Academy of Sciences, the DeYoung Museum or the Japanese Tea Garden, it is a short walk up to Stow Lake, a small body... More

Got here on a Friday and surprised to see there was ample parking around. We even moved the car closer to the lake which was nice. We did not have time to go paddleboating, chose to hike around Strawberry Hill instead. We loved the mini-falls! - hiked on top of it. We would have hike all the way to the... More

For some outdoor fun in San Francisco it is fun to go boating on Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park. It is fun to take either row boats or paddle boats out. We also like the lake for its peaceful scenery within San Francisco. It is a nice place to take a walk. We have enjoyed having a picnic here.... More

My friends and I had a great time row boating on the lake. It could have been very serene if we hadn't decided to get competitive... I loved all the inlets and corridors one could take around the islands, and there was a good amount of wildlife to enjoy along the way. Very lovely scenery. I would definitely come back.

Stow Lake is a “series of attractions” that I have reviewed for Golden Gate Park over the years, either by myself or with my family, during frequent visits into San Francisco. I have visited this small lake on numerous occasions over the years, mostly just to see the place and how it has changed and just out of plain curiosity.... More

We rented a paddle boat (two adults and an 8 year old). It was a delightful ride around Strawberry Hill island. Plants and wildfowl were plentiful. We then hiked the trail to the top of Strawberry Hill and had great city and G Gate Park views. We will be back!

Stow Lake is within the Golden Gate Park and it's a pretty place with a few activities to do in the area. You can head over to the lake on foot or park nearby and catch a "bean burger" or any type of burger lunch, they also serve hot dogs (which I liked) and the "black bean burger" is really... More

Stow Lake, located within Golden Gate park is a bit of a misnomer. This isn't a lake, it's a decent pond. It is pretty, and does include several trails which offer a decent hike. It is a nice place to relax and would be a fun place to bring a date for a picnic. The little paddle boats were not... More

There are a lot of ducks on the lake, but I didn't see any boats at all. It also looked really run down. I made sure a couple of times to make sure we had the right lake.

We stopped by Stow Lake and decided to eat first. Our burgers took a half hour to get to us and weren't anything special, the condiments jars were practically empty, and they didn't really appear to care. You can go out rowing on the lake (which is pretty), but we were so done with them by the time they bothered... More
