I went to the Coit Tower to get (yet another) stunning view of San Francisco. Most of my other views were of the city from the bay, so decided to do this to get a view up high from within the city. Of course, you can get similar views elsewhere, but Coit Tower is pretty close to central SF. The... more
The view from the top of Coit Tower is great. Elevators are provided to get you up and down the tower but be prepared to be herded like sheep. The employees, including the gift shop, barely speak English. The hike up Telegraph Hill isn't for the faint of heart so you might consider taking a taxi up the hill. Unfortunately... more
I was a little upset that there was a $4 charge per person to go to the top of this tower... I really enjoyed the view once I got up there tho. If you look for it, you can get a really good view of Lombard street... I think one of the most interesting sites at coit tower is the... more
The thing I enjoyed most about Coit Tower was the walk there... We had obtain a tourist map and was heading to the "Levi store" from Fishermans Wharf to only find a Levi head office and no store??? A lovely local overhead us talking while looking at our map and suggested that we visit the Coit Tower by climbing the... more
We went to Coit tower to see the spectacular views but were disappointed by the experience! We walked all around the city that day and saw great views (there are great views just in the parking lot of Coit tower) There is a fee to go up into the tower ~$4 per person and once you get to the top... more
We went during a not too busy time so parking on top was not a problem and it was definitely a worthwhile excursion not only for the great view but also a piece of history. "Works Progress Administration murals, now protected as a historical treasure, can be viewed inside the first floor of the Coit Tower. These Diego Rivera-inspired murals... more
This is a must do, make sure you go up by Filbert Steps. The views are amazing and its a great workout, we burned about 100 calories. I don't recommend you waste money to go to the top, since the views aren't much better. Take a picture of Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and of course Coit Tower. Make sure you... more
I was thinking I'd start writing reviews about my fave places, but Coit Tower sticks out in its lameness. San Francisco is nothing but hills, people. Why pay $4 to take an elevator to a view? Amazing views are around every corner (well, on top of every hill, anyway). Save some cash. (Oh, and it's hard to take photos from... more
Try going up to the tower after dark. We felt perfectly safe on the (tiring!!) walk up there, but the amazing view of the financial district more than made up for it. The tower wasn't open. Went back in the daylight to take in the view from up top. Pretty damn good. more
