We're so lucky we're on this group tours and to visit the Civic Center is in the itinerary. It's very very impressive inside...elaborately adorned. The spectacular main hall staircase is just magnificent. This is truly a national landmark, very beautiful. You need a really good HD camera to capture this great 19th century architecture. That's maybe the reason why ,travel... More

Normally going to a city hall would not be part of the vacation itinerary but the neoclassical city hall building at the San Francisco Civic Center is beautiful outside and inside. The rotunda is impressively majestic as though you were in major country's capitol building. Well worth a visit although you'll have to make your away around a large contingent... More

Oh must go inside this building. After taking photos outside a kindly local stopped and told us that it was a beautiful inside and to go on in. Well, that was just about the best thing we did in SF. The ornate finishing of the inside was indeed beautiful and this is a building they can be proud off. You... More

Great 19th century quaint architecture. Lobby and main hall staircase is quite spectacular for its time period. Scandals aside the 15 year rebuild of the historic landmark was worth it. Beautiful place to get married, as many were lined up like us.

It was buzzing at the civic centre the day we visited. We signed up for the free tour (there are at least 3 a day). With the tour we got to see areas of the city hall not open to the public, such as the impressive wooden (Manchurian oak) Supervisors chamber and the mayor's office. Our guide was great -... More

The Civic Center has City Hall, where you will see people getting ready for weddings. Also, there is an interesting Asian Museum. Take a short trip to this area on your way to other parts of town.

The Center and its large plaza is a short walk uphill through UN Plaza from the BART Civic Center station. Two of their prominent features are the world-class Asian Art Museum and the sprawling City Hall; both are magnificent. Other sites worth seeing on the plaza are the Public Library and the Opera House. No wonder the entire area is... More

Wild...this building is bigger than the Capitol dome. Free one hour tours occur on M-f at 10, 12 & 2. This is a must see. When we were here there were so many people getting married. Walk up the stairs in the inside. Amazing view of the dome from inside. Can buy food outside at all the food trucks.

Spectacular building! Big dome like Capitol building! I saw couples wedding ceremony there. You can find useful free maps and city magazines in the lobby!
