Great 19th century quaint architecture. Lobby and main hall staircase is quite spectacular for its time period. Scandals aside the 15 year rebuild of the historic landmark was worth it. Beautiful place to get married, as many were lined up like us.

It was buzzing at the civic centre the day we visited. We signed up for the free tour (there are at least 3 a day). With the tour we got to see areas of the city hall not open to the public, such as the impressive wooden (Manchurian oak) Supervisors chamber and the mayor's office. Our guide was great -... More

The Civic Center has City Hall, where you will see people getting ready for weddings. Also, there is an interesting Asian Museum. Take a short trip to this area on your way to other parts of town.

The Center and its large plaza is a short walk uphill through UN Plaza from the BART Civic Center station. Two of their prominent features are the world-class Asian Art Museum and the sprawling City Hall; both are magnificent. Other sites worth seeing on the plaza are the Public Library and the Opera House. No wonder the entire area is... More

Wild...this building is bigger than the Capitol dome. Free one hour tours occur on M-f at 10, 12 & 2. This is a must see. When we were here there were so many people getting married. Walk up the stairs in the inside. Amazing view of the dome from inside. Can buy food outside at all the food trucks.

Spectacular building! Big dome like Capitol building! I saw couples wedding ceremony there. You can find useful free maps and city magazines in the lobby!

Despite the big amount of homeless people, it's still a beautiful center to see from outside and inside too!

You've seen it on TV, now go inside. Park under the plaza in front. Inside, it will remind you of every State Capital Building or for that matter the Capitol in Washington. 4 Stories of winding staircases, overlooks, etc. Currently, there is a Christmas tree on the 2nd level, and there are always weddings (even heterosexual ones), banquets, and events.... sat and watched the Dew Tour outside this building. Parking is hard and expensive, as anywhere in SF.
