I didn’t enjoy this place at all; I was very disappointed because I thought this would be one of the most interesting spots of San Francisco. In fact, I was kind of uncomfortable and it was the only place in my trip that I think wasn't safe. It’s dirty and local street kids look at you like a strange bug... more

Okay. So en route to visit Stinson Beach for a week, I dragged my husband to the Haight, the place of my conception back in '67. What a waste of time! The place is creepy and dangerous, not colorful, creative or unique. It reminded me of a sketchy area of paris, near Clichy, a place you definitely don't want to... more

Unlike a lot of the other reviewers, I did not enjoy this area of San Francisco at all. I thought it was dirty and felt very uncomfortable and out of place. There were homeless people and "street kids" everywhere. I would definitely not go back. more

Enjoyed several visits to Haight-Ashbury while staying somewhat incongruously at the Hilton in Financial District. My family thought the shops were cool and the whole atmosphere was a breath of fresh air from the usual commercial shops to be found in most big cities. I also thought the cafes served pretty nice food and I recommend Gobble for a tasty... more

From Market St close to the piers, we took bus 71 to HA and got off at Buena Vista Park just before the strip. It’s quite a steep walk to the top of the park – but take it very slow and do it anyway. The beautiful scenery and views make it worthwhile. Heading in to HA, we tried to... more

. . . get you there on time." A fun trip back in time (or as close as you can get) to the Summer of Love. Going early in the day during the week is the most advantageous for parking. Great shops and food (try "The Squat and Gobble" or "The People's Cafe," both on Haight St.). But the best... more

One of my favourite little corners of the planet. If you're into retro/vintage/alternative, come spend a few hours here..Hippies, the Grateful Dead, Janis..all that scene.. Some of my fave photos i have taken here, of colourful characters walking the bustling road... I love browsing the quirky boutiques, the second hand clothing stores etc. I've made purchased some beloved items of... more

There's plenty of good shopping here, including old vintage and newer designer clothes. I recommend coming here around 4-5PM while you are winding down your day and sipp on some organic coffee. Go to Amoeba and Crossroads to shop. Aside from the college kids that sit around and beg for money, I enjoy coming here. more

When I was there I was more interested in the Hippie Culture then the shops. There was always hip shops there in the late 60's nothing has changed except time. Headshops etc come and go but there seems to be a renewed Hippie happing in the Haight if you look . I will come back more

Very nice area to walk around and window shop. Make sure you have some handcrafted beers at the Magnolia Brewery, then take the bus (or walk the 7 blocks downhill) to the Toronado for an amazing selection of beers from all over the world. Then have some sausages at the Sausage Grill next door. more
