Good area to eat

Go visit the center and enjoy the tall buildings. If you plan to shop and eat, plan to eat early as the Restuarants do not stay open very late.

The Embarcadero Center is a complex of five tower blocks in the financial district of San Francisco. Its also encompasses boutique shopping, dining and entertainment. Maybe it aims to be cool but I preferred Union Square.

I was staying in the area and decided to walk to the Embarcadero Center. I was shocked to see that most of the restaurants did not stay open past early evening. There also didn't appear to be a great selection. The concept is cool, but the execution not so cool. It doesn't hurt to stop by if you're in the... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel right in the heart of the Embarcadero Center. The Embarcadero Center is San Francisco’s premier destination for boutique shopping, outstanding restaurants and popular local events. The Embarcadero Center consists of four 30 to 45-story buildings and the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, located between the Ferry Building and the foot... More

Near the Ferry Terminal and the Financial District. This is a shopping center stretching for 4 blocks with a bridged passageway. Busy with workers at lunch hour. You can find some nice shopping here as well as many restaurants covering a wide spectrum of tastes. The best movie theater in the west for foreign and indie films is located in... More

This Center is a pleasant place to go in San Francisco in the Embarcadero area - thus the name Embarcadero Center. There is a variety of good places to dine such as Gaylords for Indian food Fuzio for Italian, Patriot House which is a Gastropub, and Green Bar (buffet style so easy to get one's lunch during lunch hour) and... The Embarcadero Center is a lovely area. There are numerous restaurants and shops. Also, many local vendors set up their tables with local art and jewelry. There are quite a few hotels within walking distance. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency and there were many things to walk around and see.

We generally visit the Embarcadero when we are in San Francisco. It has a great Cir Le Table store and some really interesting fine foods. The craft booths outside are fun to look through, though there is little of quality amidst the junk. The mall itself is quite pricy. This time we were there on a Saturday morning and found... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
