We visited Sausalito, the house boats and Muir Woods. Worthwhile experience. If you go there in August take a sweater. Yes, it gets really chilly.

hike the Miwok to Ridge to Coast trail for a nice dog friendly loop with a bit of climbing and lovely views to the ocean, city and headlands. takes us about 2 hours without too many stops to admire the view, plan longer if you take lots of pictures. probably about 1000' elevation change in total on the loop

Bit of a narrow curvy road to get up to the top and not always easy to pull over to take photos as parking is limited, but it gives you a different perspective of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's also possible to park at the bottom of the road and walk under the bridge to the other side for photos.

We ran out of time and just popped up to Hawk's Hill to take in the views of the bay/bridge/city. Very beautiful. Getting off on the exit and finding a parking spot was a little stressful, but it is worth it.

There are beautiful views of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge from the hills on Marin Headlands. There is a viewing area accessed by a one way road system about 10 minutes drive from the Golden Gate Bridge - well worth the visit.

We arrived at the Marin Headlands around 2:00 on a Monday. The morning fog was gone, the skies were clear, and it was beautiful. I read in several reviews that the best views of the bridge is on the North side, and I think that is true. You won't be disappointed. The view from the Marin Headlands is awesome.....with the...
