I enjoyed visiting Pier 39 and we went back here a number of times during our visit to San Francisco. The shopping here was very good - from souvenirs to clothing to food. Much to my surprise, I found some very reasonably priced souvenirs and t-shirts, jackets etc here. Similar products in Australia would cost 2-3 times more. Enjoyed seeing... More

I guess this is one of those places you have to go to. Been there now and done that. The seals were interesting. Just like any seafront board walk. I will admit the views off shore were nice.

What a waste of time. Do go here if you like being jammed in with thousands of other tourists, get fed lousy food and over-charged for crappy souvenirs. Buy your souvenirs in Chinatown, same stuff, half the price.

Plenty to buy here. Food (chowder especially in bread bowl) is very good. Not to pricey either. Parking in lot or garage is very inexpensive for a few hours. We stopped at Pier 33 down the road that was more local and less touristy. Gourmet fresh food and market. Higher end products and much less crowded.

Guess this is a must do, but was crowded and expensive. Was interesting to walk around heaps to see but was not tempted to buy. Probable a good place to go with kids or a group, pleased we went but not likely to go again.

We were so looking forward to visiting this pier. Plenty of eateries, especially the surfing bar and sour dough cafe. To top it all the sun came out and the sea lions were a perfect end to the day. Great little shops and ice cream parlour. Will be back.

This is a great place to spend the day or a weekend. We were in SF for just a couple of days, and we're so glad that we made plans to come here; we regret we couldn't see more if it. It was the perfect outdoor weather for the live street music, smells of seafood fare, and the colours of... More

Great view wih lots of shops on the pier. Great view of Alcatraz and the golden gate bridge. Make sure you try the Clam chowder in a sourdough bun at Fog Harbour.

Have been here many times and it doesn't change - still very touristy, but it's a must to vist when visiting SF - the highlight for me is walking to the end of the pier to see the Seals which can be very amusing and especially worthwhile for kids.

This is a place full of life! Lots of tourists from other countries, buzzing with activity. We did not really shop to buy so can't comment on prices. It was clean, felt very safe and a nice walk from the Fairmont. It was VERY crowded but great fun!
