For a minute, I thought we were in Maine, with all of the clam chowder the restaurants were offering to lure you in. However, I quickly remembered I was in San Francisco, as the chowder couldn’t compare to that of Maine. Pier 39 is worth a stroll and a good place to stop for a snack. Be sure to check... More

Although the pier is packed full of over priced tourist shops and restaurants, we had a good time here watching the street preformers and the good views from the Pier. Our favorite part though was watching the Sea Lions, they are loud and very entertaining! The Sea Lion Centre also provides a lot of good information on both the animals... More

Agree with the earlier comments that this is a tourist trap and doesn't really offer anything out of the ordinary except the seals! Definitely worth a visit to see them lounging around but eat and buy souvenirs elsewhere as it will be cheaper.

Much of this tourist trap is over price and over rated. The food quality leaves much to be desired. However, if you want to see sea lions (for free) this is the location to do it. Otherwise, skip this stop on your vacation.

These are the places I dislike in every city I go to. It has every characteristic of any tourist trap. With all the great food spots and amazing views of the city, dont waste to much time here. See the sea lions and get out! ;)

There is no doubt as to what this is, and it doesn't shy away from it. This is THE tourist trap of San Francisco. There are plenty of shops, all of which are overpriced. There are plenty of places to eat, all of which are overpriced. However, it isn't without it's own unique charms. It is interesting to see the... More

We read reviews about this boardwalk and decided to give it a look. We needed a place to eat and wanted to get some souvenirs. Everything was way overpriced, and just about every shop had the same stuff. There were a few unique places, like the Left Hand Shop, but most of the stuff was typical tourist stuff. We were... More

A lot to see here. Enjoy pier style views. Good food, good lookout to Alcatraz. Good activities for photography and family/friends hangout.

Well except for a good collection of stores and restaurants it not really an attraction. But some of the more special visitor stores are located here.

The highlight of this place is seeing the sea lions and the large ships docked near by. The area provided great views of the bay and city. The shops are fun to see, but I'm not a fan of tourist traps. It's full of restaurants and novelty stuff. Overall, a must see if you've never been here before.
