We enjoyed walking the Pier 39 area more than any other thing we did in San Francisco. I had been there back in 1996, but my wife had never seen it. Many things have changed; most for the better since I was there. There are restaurants and eateries of almost any kind you seek and overall the food is good... More

Trinket shopping, open air restaurants, Street artists and more. This is an awesome place to include on your visit to San Francisco. It's a lot of fun to just hang out to window shop and people watch but there are also great views of Alcatraz, ships passing, Sea Lions, etc. You can gorge on candy, sandwiches, chowder in a bread-bowl... Pier 39 is a must when in San Francisco. It's a great place, with amazing views and is loaded with fun shops, restaurants and sweets. There are several benches along the way where you can just sit and take in the views, as well as enjoy some fun people watching. I'll always be sure to come here when in the... More

Pier 39 is known for his sealions off course, what a life they have, sleeping working on their tan and waiting for some food, life can be hard sometimes :). Nice stores surrounding this pier 39 and also many amateurs artists and musicians give this spot a stressless feeling.

Well this really took us by surprise ! On the hop on hop off bus tour and needed to kill a bit of time before the Alcatraz tour so jumped off at Pier 39. So pleased we did, it would have been a real shame to miss it. There's a Hard Rock and an Aquarium, lots of eateries and fabulous... More

The whole area is pretty nice but the pier itself is very touristy. Lots of shops and stuff but nothing all that exciting other than the seals which are cool. There are nice views all along the waterfront. It's a place to go to if you have the time.

I jumped off my cruise ship in San Francisco, walked a short distance to the street and picked up the old yellow "F" trolley (75 cents for seniors) and got off a few minutes later at Pier 39. What a fun and interesting place. It's the home of the San Francisco Aquarium, lots of eateries, gift shops and other interesting... More

I have visited Pier 39 about 3 times over the past 15 years (my brother has lived in California for 20 years). Not much has changed over those years, except Trip Advisor has now taken a grip of all our travel plans (and is a fantastic tool)! Peir 39 has changed very little over the years and it is still...
