A lot of restaurant and shops. Need comfortable shoes for this is a long walk. Want to see seagulls and sea lion? This is the perfect destination. Always full of tourist. Food is good. People who love chowder and seafood this is the perfect destination.

Plenty to eat, drink, shop and be merry. It is a tourist place and feels like one. The prices are somewhat on higher side, but worth it. 24X7 Parking available right across street. Ignore the negative reviews and go-n-have-fun. Specially if you are in SF for a day or two. Must visit!

This is an interesting place to visit. The pier is long and there are many places to shop, eat and spend money. Wear comfortable shoes. It is fun to just walk out near the water to see the sea lions and the gulls. There are a lot of places to buy T-shirts, hoodies and other touristy things. We stopped for... More

We enjoyed taking pictures of the sea lions and watched them for a bit. The clam chowder and the bread bowl at Boudin was delicious. Three of us shared the soup and bread. It was a good snack. And a good place to sit and rest for a bit. Other than that, I didn't find anything interesting at Pier 39.... More

Seafood to die for, seals bobbing if you're lucky, and buzzing atmosphere! The choice of places to eat is overwhelming. We opted for Bubba's Prawn emporium. Never saw the film Forest Gump so the theme boards were list on us, but the good was seriously good!

Many things to do and places to eat. Great views from the pier. Some stores priced tourist high but others very reasonable. Must see. Try one of the boat tours to get out on the water. Check weather and bring layers of clothes - sweatshirt, jacket. Probably 1/2 day with a cup of chowder and a water costing $7-8 at... More

Even though Pier 39 is way too crowded and touristy, just sit (for free) and watch the sea lions for a bit...it's quite relaxing and will help break up your days from all of the touristy stuff in SF. Afterwards, grab a bowl of chowder. You can skip all of the tourist shops on the pier...just over-priced junk.

If you like crowds , this is the place! Overpriced shops and mediocre restaurants abound and very touristy. Aquarium is worthwhile for younger kids and very enjoyable. It is expensive however and is not a large facility. Can be toured completely in an hour or less. $21 price tag for adults is steep. Little kids love it and the walk... More

Very beautiful scenery, lots of restaurants and cafés, there are also nice sovounir shops, weather there tends to be colder and more windy than the rest of San Francisco so you'd take a light jacket with you, overall; if you go to San Francisco, it's a must to see Pier 39.
