Visited Pier 39 after we had been to Alcatraz. Lady playing an organ at the entrance (selling her CD) but she seemed happy bobbing along to the music she was making. There are plenty of shops to have a little mooch around and a good choice of restaurants. At the end of the pier is a stage where there was... More

You've got everything here. View, food, shopping and diversity. Love to just take a stroll, have a meal or snack, shop a little and just take in the sites....

While PIER 39 has dozens of sights, sounds and tastes to explore, here are some you definitely won't want to miss: Visit the Sea Lions Your leave with a case of sea lion withdrawls after gazing out at the hypnotic antics of these playful pinnipeds. Visited Pier 39 after taking the Alcatraz tour. While it was fun to see once, it reminded me of the Boston waterfront. Many tourist shops, hard to find parking but if you need souvenirs, this is the place to go.

Went at dusk to do some shopping and eat. We ate at Swiss Louis which we had a great view of the sunset and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Pier was busy but a fun night.

If you go to San Francisco you absolutely MUST go to Peir 39. It has something for everyone. Lots of kid friendly things to do, lots of restaurants to pick from, lots of souvenir shops and even sea lions. Everything looks new and well taken care of.

Awesome little place on the water. It has several little shops and restaurants with great traditional meals like fish 'n chips and clam chowder bread bowls. It has a great vibe, perfect for couples or family and has several activities there like the aquarium, dungeon or madam tusseaud's that are fun attractions. This place is a must visit!

It may be a "tourist trap" but sometimes you have to love having everything in one place. A place to see California sea lions, a place to get a $10 California t-shirt, and a place to eat all in one, who can complain. We enjoyed watching the sea lions, learning more about them in the center, eating at the Hard... More

I enjoyed visiting Pier 39 and we went back here a number of times during our visit to San Francisco. The shopping here was very good - from souvenirs to clothing to food. Much to my surprise, I found some very reasonably priced souvenirs and t-shirts, jackets etc here. Similar products in Australia would cost 2-3 times more. Enjoyed seeing... More

I guess this is one of those places you have to go to. Been there now and done that. The seals were interesting. Just like any seafront board walk. I will admit the views off shore were nice.
