Pier 39/Fishermans wharf was a nice surprise on the bay. Lots of shops and places to eat all built on an actual pier. We visited this area after doing the Alcatraz tour. It is a short 5-10 minute walk from the Alcatraz terminal. If you are sports minded check out the NFL Store as it is packed with merchandise across... More

A large variety of shops and restaurants we went to bubba gumps shrimp company on the end, it was a great experience, everyone must go watch the seams on the end to the left also a good spot to take pictures of Alcatraz

Masses of people, lovely views, great for the kids. We enjoyed watching and listening to the sea lions.

Pier 39 is almost the hub of all tourist activity in SFO - it's a fun place no doubt, but I really can't understand what the hype is all about. The cluster of sea-food restaurants were quite touristy - as expected of any boardwalk. The area is quite safe to walk at night and lots of families were out for... More

I always enjoy Pier 39 but really love sampling the different foods on the Pier. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and loved watching all the street venders.

Furthermore to my Fisherman's Wharf review, Pier 39 has a good feeling around the place, everyone is out to have a good time whether it's during the day or at night time. Seeing the sea lions in the area was great.

Great views of the sea lions and the coast line. It can be a bit crowded but it's worth making the effort and wading through the crowds. Good atmosphere and some decent little places to eat and drink.

Pier 39 is just another tourist area where its great to see the sea lions and have a mooch about the shops and stuff but really nothing original or too exciting. Just another part of Fishermans Wharf where you can while away an hour or so.

It's expensive to park! Also it really hasn't changed all that much in 20 years! Sea lions are great to watch. Good places to eat
