Pier 39 is just not that special. Unless you've never been to a tourist area with shops and food---it's the same…only with different souvenir tee shirts and mugs. I admit, I was born and raised in San Francisco so I can come up with many other, better places to go---but I've always thought Pier 39 was just ok.

Narrow street, one way traffic, dozens of junky souvenir shops all with the same irresistible useless crap. Side streets restaurants OK. Go one block west (up) to Stockton Street for the real chinese experience.

At the end of the pier there are tons of sea lions that hang out, they are so fun to watch! This place is packed with shops, food and attractions.

I was on a business trip, and took a few minutes of free time for myself. It was a great decision to check out "pier 39". This was the best part of my trip. Pier 39 offers a lot of things to see and do. If you have to go to San Francisco, check out Pier 39.

There are lots of shops and restaurants. Find the visitor info centre as they gave us a coupon book that had some good deals for food and souveniers. It can be done in a few hours. The aquarium is also there and it was ok...not as good as sea world but very impressive glass tunnels.

Pier 39 is called a tourist trap by some but I certainly don't think so. I love all the wonderful places to shop and eat. There's a lot to see and a lot to take in. What a great place to take in the sights and sounds of San Fran pier. Lots of shops, sun, and friendly people. Great deals if you look closely.
