We decided to visit the entire area of Pier 39 and the Wharf the entire day. We took the cable car ride to the Pier which was the best way to take in the touristy thing. We arrived just around 10:30 which was nice, the weather wasnt the best at that hour but the crowds werent formed yet which was... More

We visited Pier 39 a couple of times. We had lunch at the a surf restaurant near the entrance,I think it was called wipe out. The waitress was very helpful and advised us on things to do around the area. We went on the 7D ride but not sure it was worth it. It was part of our hop on... More

It was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. I think the main attraction for most visitors is the fact that they went there because of it's reputation for being on the bay. We visited twice over the two days (once because we got to the Alcatraz Landing pier too early and needed to kill some time) There was one stand-out... More

We loved Pier 39 but we went on a Thursday. Not crowded and a lot of fun. We enjoyed window shopping and watching the sea lions.

I normally avoid tourist traps, but I'm so glad we spent some time visiting Pier 39. Sure, there's a lot of the usual touristy nonsense - overpriced crazy souvenirs, a Hard Rock Cafe, etc. but it's just a really fun busy atmosphere. If you can handle the crowds, you get some great views of the Bay, including Alcatraz and the... More

We stopped here after our trip to Alcatraz and there is a lot to see. It was cold on the day we were there and that kept the crowd down. Plenty of food, souvenirs, and picture opportunites. We ate upstairs at Bubba Gump's. There is a Mexican restaurant, pizza restaurant, fish restaurant, and many snack places. There is a magic... More

Pier 39 is definitely a tourist must visit. Lots of places to eat, and great place for souveneir shopping. It was extra crowded because of the memorial day holiday, but I still had a lot of fun going in and out of the shops. There is also an arcade and lots of carnival like games towards the back.

One of the most interesting scenes on the piers. Lives seeing the seals! They all have a lot of character. They are fussing and fighting with each other constantly and some have battle scars. The alpha males, I suppose, have to guard their women!
