The walking tour of the brewery lasts about 40-45 minutes. Your tour guide will give you a brief history of Anchor Brewing and walk you through three floors of our facility. Children are welcome to come on the tour, but of course may not taste the beer during our tasting session that follows the walking tour. While visiting San Francisco, after a nephew's wedding in Sonoma, family and friends scheduled a tour of Anchor Steam Brewing Company...where the famous Steam beer comes from. The tour far exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Bobby, was so friendly and knowledgeable, and was eager to show us a good time, as well as educate us. We saw just about everything there... More

As noted by others, call ahead early to reserve your spot. It is a free tour and they are generous with the amount of beer you can sample (thus making it the best value in SF!). On top of that, our tour guide was very knowledgeable as he took us through the rich history of Anchor Brewing Company and he... More

Plan ahead and make sure you get your reservation in! My friends and I were visiting and had made reservations a couple of months in advance of our trip. We took a bus and then walked a few short blocks to the brewery. Try to arrive as close to your time as you can to avoid having to wait outside.... More

I did this tour with some friends. It was a great time and the tour guides and other employees made the tour enjoyable. We sampled several different styles of beer and the building is very interesting with lots of old beer memorabilia. You need to put a tip jar out for the tour guide/bar tender.

Call ahead for reservations (up to 6 months in advance), but we called the week ahead and were able to be worked in.

Need to call to make reservations a few months in advance of your trip. The tour of the brewery was very interesting and the guide was very knowledgable. Many antiques in the tasting room and in the touring areas. Of course free tasting after the tour! Nice and reasonably priced souvenirs.

Had the pleasure of visiting the Anchor Brewing Company in the summer of 2013. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny.. And he wasn't cheap with the beer :) Highly recommendable if you are into great beer! As of 2013, you have to book via phone, but it was no problem.

Tour was fantastic. There's a lot of history surrounding this brewery, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. There's a tasting at the end of the tour. My wife and I were under the impression that we would taste all the beers on tap, but it was actually 4 of them and then one of... More

My friends strongly recommend to book the tour, and decided to give it a go, and booked it for one of our days in town. Our tour guide Bobby was brilliant! So knowledgeable, entertaining and just great guy! Really enjoyed seeing the brewery, loved the bottling floor! Oh and the best part! Well, the tasting was really good! Proper full... More

We booked the free tour for our last day. We arrived a little early so sat in the bar looking around. Our tour guide, buddy was great and a fountain of knowledge. The factory was in full working order, great to watch them at work. After the tour finished we went to the bar for a full tasting which my... More
