Public tours of the Anchor Brewery are available each weekday, free of charge, by reservation only. The walking tour of the brewery lasts about 40-45 minutes. Your tour guide will give you a brief history of Anchor Brewing and walk you through three floors of our facility. Children are welcome to come on the tour, but of course may not taste the beer during our tasting session that follows the walking tour. You may have up to ten in your party, depending on the availability of space. Altogether, the tour and the tasting last for about 2 hours, and tastings are only available to those who take the tour.

Having been on brewery tours at every given opportunity during my travels, I have to say that I was absolutely impressed with the tour at Anchor on our recent trip to San Francisco. There are very few craft brewers (especially on the west coast) that have the pre-Prohibition history that Anchor has. And to see that our tour/beer guide, Nick,... More

I booked the tour before I left for San Francisco and I am pleased I did because it was fully booked. We were greeted with a beer which was followed by a tour of the brewery and a tasting session. There are a good range of beers on offer and you can buy some to take away from the shop.... More

We needed something to do after landing in SFO and awaiting check in at our hotel, well worth the $15 each. I was worried at first when we visited to come back because there was a tour still going on but I understood why a little later. We came back and were asked to wait in the tasting area, we... More

I was visiting San Francisco as part of a road trip I was doing around the Southwest USA on vacation/holiday from the UK. As a craft/real ale fan, it would have been rude not to stop by the Anchor Brewery en route. Before I left home I tried to book my brewery tour online, but tge booking system was confused... More

I can highly recommend a visit to Anchor Brewing Company, we were fortunate to be having an extended stay in San Francisco so we had plenty of time to add a beer tour to our itinerary. If you are looking for something different to do, learn something about the history of beer making in SF, and sample a variety of... More

While visiting San Francisco, after a nephew's wedding in Sonoma, family and friends scheduled a tour of Anchor Steam Brewing Company...where the famous Steam beer comes from. The tour far exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Bobby, was so friendly and knowledgeable, and was eager to show us a good time, as well as educate us. We saw just about everything there... More

As noted by others, call ahead early to reserve your spot. It is a free tour and they are generous with the amount of beer you can sample (thus making it the best value in SF!). On top of that, our tour guide was very knowledgeable as he took us through the rich history of Anchor Brewing Company and he... More

Plan ahead and make sure you get your reservation in! My friends and I were visiting and had made reservations a couple of months in advance of our trip. We took a bus and then walked a few short blocks to the brewery. Try to arrive as close to your time as you can to avoid having to wait outside.... More

I did this tour with some friends. It was a great time and the tour guides and other employees made the tour enjoyable. We sampled several different styles of beer and the building is very interesting with lots of old beer memorabilia. You need to put a tip jar out for the tour guide/bar tender.

Call ahead for reservations (up to 6 months in advance), but we called the week ahead and were able to be worked in.
