We specialize in designing unique, personalized climbing experiences for all ages and abilities on the scenic shores of Acadia and throughout Maine! Join us for a healthy and fun activity that is guaranteed to be a highlight of your vacation. All equipment is provided. Unlike other local seasonal climbing services, guiding is our profession! AMGCS has the distinction of being the only school in Maine to be dually accredited by both the AMGA and the PCIA. AMG has been under the same consistent ownership since opening in 1993. The owner, Jon Tierney, began guiding in 1983 in Acadia and is one of a handful of Americans to earn the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA) guide license. The IFMGA license is the PhD of guiding and requires full AMGA certification as a rock, alpine and ski mountaineering guide. We look forward to meeting you on the rocks! « less

My 3 kids (ages 20, 16, 12) and I climbed for an afternoon with Dick, who was the perfect combination of relaxed and attentive, and it was something we will always remember. Everything about our experience was top notch - from the quick check-in to the short hike out to the cliffs to all the climbing Dick packed in to... More

Acadia is really good at catering to the client. I have a ten year old daughter and a thirteen year old son. My daughter was terrified three days in advance, "what are we doing?", "I'm scared", etc. Mark took us out and made us feel really comfortable. He was patient, kind, safe and friendly. My terrified daughter has new found... More

During our July summer holiday trip down the Maine coast, we stayed in Bar Harbor for four days with our 15 year old son in order to explore the Arcadia National Park. Our son is a very keen climber and we wanted to take the opportunity for him to tackle some outdoor climbs while we were away. After doing some... More

Henry was our guide and he wasted no time getting us going...our first climb was down the cliff towards the water at Otter Cliff. We put our faith in Henry and the equipment and neither disappointed. It was the first time doing this for my daughter (17) and I and we both had a blast...we'll definitely do again next summer... More

It was the evening before our last day in Acadia and all the guided climbs were booked...until I lucked out and reached Mark at Acadia Mountain Guides Climbing School. He said the schedule was booked, but he'd be happy to take my daughter and me for a sunrise climb. We met him at the shop at 5:15AM and headed out... More

We love this camp! My son comes home at the end of each day full of stories of all he has learned and done that day. The guides are great with the kids, very competent and patient. There are activities for all...I can always count on my son falling asleep quickly in camp nights as he is tuckered out from... More

Is there anything on trip advisor that has this many reviews and a 100% like? Nothing I have ever seen or done. DO IT!! The experience value to price ratio is out of this world. We were 2 adults and two girls, 11 and 14. I'm a big guy at 6'2" and 295. Went with Dick and Eric to Thunder... More

My 15 year old son had a great experience at this week-long camp. The instructors were very knowledgeable, good teachers, and fun to be around. They enjoyed a full week of climbing, learning different types of climbing in Acadia. I would recommend this to camp to any teen who'd like to spend a week climbing and camping.

My family wanted to have an adventure vacation and selected Bar Harbor/Acadia as our destination. We biked, kayaked, hiked, but by far the most memorable part of our vacation was climbing with Acadia Mountain Guides. This was the first time for all of us and our guide was fantastic. He made all of us feel safe and gave us confidence... More
