We stopped by the local library when we were touring the village. It is beautiful and the staff is very welcoming. We enjoyed reading the periodicals room...they have a nice selection.

Also wifi, computers, and a beautiful building. Used books sell for cheap and they have a decent selection. Programs include speakers, contra dances, kid things. A nice place to just hang on a rainy day or to sit and read.

Got a rainy couple of hours or maybe even not rainy. Beautiful little place with leather bound doors and glass everywhere and more old books than you can shake a stick at. Do it,

I love the smell when you walk into the library, old leather bound doors and books. The library is an interesting place, so beautiful inside with the glass floor and ceiling. The stacks and the Maine Room where you can find some wonderful books on Maine and from Maine authors.

When I lived in Bar Harbor, I didn't spend a whole lot of time at the library except to pick up books but when I was visiting this last time, it rained for a few days so I spent two days reading in the library because of the downpours. Needless to say, it is a lovely library (look up) and... More

Non residents can get a library card by leaving a deposit. They had a big sale last year, not sure if they do that every year but if you're in town when they do, you should check it out. The stuff is old and dusty but interesting to look through.
