This is an amazing trail and to watch it form and disappear as the tides change is just crazy cool. We walked around the land masses during low tide and to the summit of Bar Island for pictures of Bar Harbor. We left the trail before high tide and then watched it disappear under the water. Some visitors didn't quite... More

Taking the 1/2 mile walk across to Bar Island is pretty neat considering that in high tide there is NO path across. Just a great experience - pretty flat hike.

A walk down a side street of Bar Harbor and out across a tide dictated spit of land, this hike is short, relatively easy and affords a nice view back to Ba rHarbor's waterfront. It is an intriguing (and important!) detail that the trail is only accessible around low tide. If the tide is right, great for a morning hike... More

Check the tides and plan a walk a couple of hours either side of low tide. I'm sure that it was just luck, but both times we've been there, we observed a seagull flying up with a blue mussel and dropping it on the rocks to break the shell...very cool. And you can't beat the price!

Watch the tide coming in especially if you are adventurous and decide to drive across. We decided to walk and not take our chances. It was great!

The trails are a great walk with a picturesque view of Frenchman's Bay and the pier when you get to the summit.

Dont miss this when visiting Bar Harbor. The hike up to the summit was easy with perhaps just one spot that was a slight challenge ( i have a less than 1yr old right knee) We started down on a trail that was not the one we went up ( not for faint of heart, needless to say, i had... More

We walked out to this small island at low tide. It was fun to walk around and we saw a seal just of the rocky shore. Make certain you know when the tide starts coming in because it comes in fast and you might get stuck wading across the sand bar.

Wonderful hiking - majestic peaks, ocean air, brilliant fall colors - overall an absolutely fantastic experience - highly recommended, especially in autumn!
