The Island Explorer enabled our family to travel each evening into the center of town without any hassle. It was clean, and prompt. The staff was friendly and helpful if we had any questions. Thanks for the service!

The FREE Island Explorer busses are wonderful. We were fortunate enough to have a stop at our campground. It is a great way to travel around the park/island without having to worry about parking and finding your way. You can jump off/get on basically anywhere and the drivers are friendly and helpful.

If you do not have transportation, this is an excellent way to get almost everywhere. They have a guide that shows exactly where they stop for pick ups and drop offs. The drivers are very nice and IT'S FREE!!!

you won't be on the bus long so if it's crowded and you have to stand, you won't by the next stop. They also take bikes. Remember to tip because there is no charge. Some of the bus drivers are very funny and tell great stories. No need to drive through the park (except to Cadillac Mountain) and parking can... More

The Island Explorer takes you from town all around Acadia and Bar Harbor. It is an easy way to get around and you can leave you car at the hotel.

Great way to travel to and from town from select hotels. The bus schedule was very good-- every 15 minutes in the evening. But could have used more buses for the 9 pm return. Too may standees. Felt it was a bit unsafe.

The explorer bus service makes getting into Bar Harbor and around the island very convenient. It was a little crowded toward the end of the evening (shuttles stop at 10:00 and any time I went back to my hotel after 9:00 pm, I had to stand because there were no extra seats) but over all a pleasant way to travel.

If you are new to Acadia National Park, this is your very best way to get acquainted with the park and its features. This was a spectacular tour, well narrated, and very informative. If you are lucky enough to get Roger, you're in excellent hands!

What do you do when you hike 4 miles down from the summit of Cadillac Mountain and don't have time (or energy) to hike back up to your car? Pick up the Island Explorer bus at the campground ranger station and ride it to Bar Harbor. The bus ride is free but a taxi back to your car will set... More

This bus is perfect. The stops are in great spots throughout the park and in town. The drivers are friendly, and the pet friendly policy helps make this bus system available to more people. We were able to take whichever hiking trails we wanted without worry of returning to our parking spot - just hop off the bus at your... More
