Take a boat tour

We took a 2 hour sailing boat tour of Frenchman's Bay. Well worth it to see the area from the water and hear some of the local history.

The views are awesome. The best views are from atop Cadillac Mountain. But, there great from almost anywhere. I also like to experience it in a kayak. Enjoy!

Frenchman's Bay is the body of water of which Bar Harbor is located on. The area is beautiful, and if you are lucky, you can even see a cruise ship of two docked there! There is so much to do there, and the locals try their best to integrate you into that community and educate you about the history of... More

Drove up to the top of Cadillac Mountain to view this area. Once we got up the winding road to the top the view is really impressive of the bay. It was a beautiful day but even chilly up there in September.

We took a sailboat tour of the Frenchman harbor which was narrated by a National Ranger. We learned the history, nature and the background of being a ranger. I got to even help raise the sail of the sailboat.

The water views here are gorgeous. It was raining the day we traveled here so we were unable to get out and explore, but really enjoyed looking at the views.

This is such a beautiful area! We loved exploring the sand bar and found some really beautiful beach glass and brownstone.

We went with a local tour company, Sea Venture Boat Tours. He is a local and knows the area well. We saw seals, eagles, osprey, and wonderful rock formations/scenery. The islands are beautiful. A private boat tour on a smaller craft is the best way to see it. The big boats can't get close to the islands.

We loved Frenchmans Bay. We took a nature cruise out into the bay and saw many seals, eagles and different birds. We loved looking at the bay from our hotel room and the sunsets on the water were wonderful.

During low tide, you can actually walk across the sea floor to an Island called "Bar Island". We didn't know about this until we saw others walking and driving across the bay! It was a pretty cool experience to be standing in the middle of the bay!
