Although the temperature was 45 degrees the boat has a completely covered area where you can sit to be warm. The cruise was informative and the staff was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot of the history of the area and what kind of wild life makes their home on the islands. Unfortunately, it was the wrong time of year... More

I just got back from the 2 hour afternoon 'Nature and Sightseeing' cruise. It was an excellent trip and I really enjoyed myself. The naturalist on this trip was Thom and he was very informative and at times funny. The first part of the trip we traveled along the coast of Mt Desert Island, getting a different view of the... The views from the boat are amazing. A must see, if visiting the area. Our guide was FULL of information about the town's history and it's residents. Also spilled some local celebrity gossip. Fun, fun, fun!

October is a wonderful month for fall colors. Bar Harbor ME is picturesque, but the true beauty is from the view of the shore via boat. Acadian nature cruises offers an intimate, yet informative tour of nature's fall beauty. At first, we were disappointed that the larger cruise operators were booked, but we were pleasantly surprised by this company. The... More

The fall Somes Sound VIP tour is superb. It is only offered late in the season, and runs three full hours. Lots of opportunities to take foliage photos, and to see wildlife. You get a great running commentary on the natural and human history of Mt. Desert island. Along the way you get to see many mansions, and as well... More

We were a little disappointed that it was too late to see whales but we really enjoyed this nature cruise. We took the cruise in October and saw seals, a lighthouse and beautiful scenery. Great way to spend the afternoon in Bar Harbor

The cruise is excellent, the boat very nice and the crew knowledgeable, warm and a very friendly host. It visits beautiful places unreachable from the land, providing very relevant information and presenting a different viewpoint from what you see from inland. Besides, a lot of interesting data on geography, history, nature and human dimension of Acadia and its surroundings. A... More

We took a brilliant fall morning tour around Bar Harbor. Captain Jeff and his crew were friendly, knowledgable, and fun. While we did not get to see a lot of animals, the history of the area, the names of the houses, and the background of their owners was fascinating.

The guide was friendly enough, and it is scenic to be out on the water looking back on the Bar Harbor area ... but there was very little in the way of "nature education..." a few birds. Mostly talked about homes of the wealthy, which was somewhat entertaining.

The cruise was part of a package with our motel. It was a brisk day on the water but we were prepared for it. The guide was very knowledgeable about the geology and the history of the area and it was especially interesting to hear about the Prohibition period and the area. There are no guarantees as to what animals... More
