The rangers were absolutely helpful in guiding us where to go in the park. My father in law has been to Acadia a few times and the Rangers were able to answer questions from his previous trips. They are very knowledgeable of the park. Go to them if you have any questions!

We didn't spend a lot of time as this was nearing the end of the day for us. It was similar to visitor centers in other parks and worth going if you need trail maps etc.

Always our first stop on our annual trip to Acadia National Park. For first-time visitors, make sure you view the short movie available. The knowledgeable Rangers have up to the minute information, maps, weather reports, etc. And, of course, there is a small gift shop with a good selection of books, maps, etc.

Well stocked with brochures, and pleasant helpful staff. Centrally located on Mount Desert Island for easy access and island wide info.

We'd done our research and had some ideas of hikes we'd like to try or spots to see. Even so, the ranger was very helpful in making some additional recommendations. There was a large relief map giving you a good visual of the entire park and a small auditorium played a video intro. We paid for our pass, checked out... More

One of our first stops to gather more information, There are many steps to get to the center, so I stayed down in the parking lot, only to discover on our way out, a more accessible way to get in going to another drive. But we got what we needed and headed out.

Acadia is a big place. The folks working the desks are inundated with tourists. Fine. However... I would think they would be able to provide advice on where to go and what hikes to take. There are so many trails and some can be lethal (yes, warnings on some trails). I wanted to walk away from this lady and stand... More

Unless you need a park map or need to pay for your weekly pass, I wouldn't bother. I was quite surprised at how small this visitor center was and the movie was more like an advertisement for the ranger services.
