So much to explore and experience. Get a map and just drive. Acadia National Park is a must. But don't forget to explore the southern areas, like Bass Harbor Lighthouse!

Mount Desert has a little of everything--old money cottages and yacht harbors, campers and hikers at Acadia National Park, nature cruises and hiking. The Carriage Roads maintained by the National Park Service and beautiful and attract drivers, runners and bikers. Mount Cadillac, the highest of the mountains that rise out of the sea, has a carriage road to the top... More

Acadia May not have the grandeur of Yosemite, but that does not diminish its beauty. What's great is you can drive and see the "highlights" in a day - or you could easily spend a week just hiking and exploring the trails and carriage roads. For us, 3.5 days provided a good overview of the park...don't miss: Cadillac Mountain sunset... More

After hiking to Bar Island at low tide stay and watch the tide come in. It is very relaxing and great fun to wade in the water as the tide comes in. Just remember to watch you time or you many need to hire a boat.

Mt. Desert Island is an amazing vacation destination for families, couples, and anyone for that matter. The natural beauty of the place and the strong sense of history coupled with a long standing tradition of relaxing and "getting back to nature" all blend in to a very pleasant vacation setting. The ability to see both land and see wildlife, tour... More

Talk about pristine. This place is all of that and then some. The options from hiking and biking, to canoeing, kayaking, walking, dining, you name it are here. It is one of the most relaxing places I have been. Would recommend MDI to anyone. Located a Hannaford grocery store in town which helped out tremendously when it came down to... More

We had been to Acadia Park 17 years ago. You know how when you go back to somewhere your remember fondly sometimes it just doesn't quite measure up. That didn't happen. It was even more stunning than I remembered. A hikers paradise. Trails for all levels. Great biking on the Carriage Trails

I've been here five times or so. It is wonderful. Take the time to drive the whole island, including over to Bass Island Light and Southwest Harbor. What a great place.
