Nice place to get away, beautiful and scenic, great place for hiking trails. I think Mid-May is the best time to visit. More

A T-Shirt and lobster roll town, with outrageous homes in the middle of Acadia National Park. The park is so manicured that you could cruise it on a golf cart. Felt like "Maine Disney". Go to Winter Harbor, across Frenchman's Bay for real Maine wilderness. More

Mount Desert Island is very beautiful and extraordinary. It is the home of Acadia National Park, as well as the town of Bar Harbor. It has quite a diverse topography from sea to the highest point (Cadillac Mountain) on the east coast. Quite impressive overall. More

I loved visiting Acadia in its down season. I didn't like that the Jordan House was not open. More

Sun came out for our drive in mid-May. Little traffic and fantastic views. We're from the West Coast and it reminded us of parts of Oregon and Ireland. More

April school vacation on a warm, sunny Mt. Desert Island is a great trip. It is a not crowded time to visit, and we could not have asked for more perfect weather. We biked the Carriage Roads in Acadia NP with lakes, stone bridges, and quiet trees all around. We hiked the Ocean Path Trail to crawl along the rocky... More

Peaceful and untainted scenery on Mount Desert Island. Hiking, swimming, horseback riding, carriage riding, ocean viewing, mountain viewing down on a mulitude of islands, whale watching kayaking, and much more. Don't go near the city of Bar Harbor, however, when the cruise ships are in port. Travel the back roads to see turn of the century cottages and inlets of... More
