We had a good time, but everything was expensive- even for Hawaii. It sort of reminded me of a flea market. With the vendors selling overpriced items The train was ok, but a nice 20 minute diversion. The dole whip was good.

Part of our Circle Island tour. Thank God we didn't waste time and money coming on our own. Expensive, touristy, crap stuff. Walked around the garden and saw some piddly pineapples - big deal. Overpriced Dole whip.

Huge, kitschy gift shop (more acreage than the plantation itself?) is the main attraction although there is a maze and train ride that may attract the kids. Getting on/off Kamehameha highway can be difficult if there is a lot of traffic -- the intersection should be signalized. If you are traveling across the center of the island, make the stop,... My wife and I stopped here during our honeymoon. It was an interesting stop but nothing amazing. There were 3 main attractions - the Pineapple Express (train tour), Plantation Garden Tour and the World's Largest Maze. For 2 adults with no kids I would only recommend the Pineapple Express. You learn about the plantation and interesting facts about harvesting pineapples.

The only reason to visit this place is the Dole Whip but it is a good enough reason to visit! I wish I had read up ahead of time to know that the train tour is a waste of time. We did get suckered into going on the train because you can't see pineapples in the garden walking tour. Really,... More

It's basically a big store selling overpriced tchotchkes and food. It's appalling that you have to pay extra to take the tour so you can learn about the plantation and make more money for dole. A self-guided walking tour should be an option. It was just a big money grab and not worth even a 5 minute detour.

Went to see the place with a lot of expectation. There was literally nothing to see that was worth a 1 hour drive each way!!! There is an exorbitant charge to see about 6 plant species. I didn't take the train ride, and hence cannot comment on it. The only plus is the pineapple ice cream, but I guess you... More

Farming as a business is dead or dying in Hawai'i. What kept some of them alive is the act of turning them into tourist attractions. Dole Plantation probably did this the best. They have a huge gift shop, food service and paid rides. Is it a must-see, no. Is it worth stopping on your way as you tour around the... More

It wasn't really what we expected. It's a big store selling lots of touristy items, candies, drinks, ice cream, etc... The coolest part was the maze which took 45 minutes or so and was fun. Other than the maze there wasn't much to see.

If you are looking for a cheap activity this will do. We road the train and did the maze. They have a whooole lot of souvenirs, not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. There's also food and snacks. I had the dole whip and it has a great pineapple flavor. They have nice clean bathrooms. Nice family activity... More
