Worth the drive-worth the flight!

The best place on Oahu- parking is limited and that probably makes it so nice and quiet. Come early with the locals to watch the sunrise!

Lanikai has turned into Miami Beach, or some other overcrowded place. Hard to find a place to lay in the sand without bumping into someone. Parking is non-existent and you possibly could get stuck in traffic for hours there now. SAD

Spectacular beach and the nicest sand and I have walked on. Good for snorkeling although we didn't see a lot, but the water is very calm and protected from the wind. We tied a hike at Pill Box just up the road into our visit for a great day in that area. Parking is tough. We parked over closer to... More

Lanikai beach on the windward side of Oahu is one of the nicest beaches in Hawaii. Fine white sand beach with ultra clear turquoise water. Growing up in Kailua (the town that Lanikai is in), I've seen its popularity grow. Parking is an issue, and there are no public bathrooms. Respecting the residents who reside there is important.

* I consider Lanikai Beach the best beach in Hawaii that you cannot surf. I am partial to the North Shore beaches of Banzai Pipeline, Sunset and Waimea Bay because of the opportunity to watch surfers. However, for sheer beauty, there is nothing better than this beach in Kailua. The beach is long, nice to walk, and has unbroken sea... More

This was one of the best part of our Hawaiian vacation. The beach here is beyond beautiful. The water is very calm and great for hanging on the beach or snorkeling. There are coral reefs right off the shore and you can see multitudes of fish! We also saw a sea turtle! Bring your snorkel gear for sure! Be aware... More

Very tranquil beach, can snorkel...sand is clean. Bring a tent or umbrella, it can get pretty hot! We always go to this beach, not as crowded as Waikiki Beach. No toilets or any facilities. Parking can be a problem. Lots of walking, but once you get there, it's worth it. Beautiful all around.

This is a beautiful long sandy beach, with a little bit of shelter under edging trees. The day we travelled here in July 15 the wind was up a little, whereas when we visited in January 14 there was no wind. Neither time was there waves - just a beautiful swimming beach with azure water and no Waikiki noise or... More

Being born from a country with lots of beautiful beaches, Lanikai is one of my favourites. It's not as touristy as Waikiki beach and the sand was very fine. It's like the beaches you see in posters! Will come back!!

This beach is very pretty. There isn't really parking, so you have to park in the neighborhood nearby. There were no public bathrooms.
