This is a nice little park area on the Kailua beach side. It has nice grass park area. Pretty clean outdoor Lavatory and nice shower for after swim. Limited parking for obvious reasons. The locals just walk or bike over.

Kalama Beach Park is a great spot to park and enjoy Kailua Beach. They have restrooms and showers, plus easy access to the beach from the parking lot. However, it is a small parking lot, so you might want to get there early in the day.

This gorgeous beach is totally bordered by a single family home neighborhood with no hotels. It has beautiful sand, great surf for body or boogie boarding and was never crowded (we were there in March). There is no road noise and a beautiful view of the curved coast. The parking lot filled up but we only had to park on... More

We were staying in Kailua and this beach park was closest to our rental. The beach is very long, and peaceful. There were no crowds at all while we were there, mostly local people walking with their dogs. The beach is sandy and the water was great. There were no lifeguards (that we saw) so keep an eye on your... More

Worth the drive from Waikiki over the Pali Highway, you won't be sorry. Well-maintained, very picturesque and clean bathrooms to bot. bordered by a quiet residential upscale neighborhood, regularly patrolled by security-- you'll be safe here. Just a gentle reminder--sharks normally come in closer to Hawaiian beaches to feed around 4:30 pm, so to be on the safe side, plan... More

My wife and I just returned from a week in Kailua. This beach is truly serene, beautiful, and picturesque. We did visit Waikiki Beach also, and I don't know why people decide to go there instead of this gem. Waikiki is so packed with tourists who never venture beyond Waikiki and perhaps Honolulu, which is great for the true beach... More

If you want to try surfing while in Maui this is the perfect place. Waves are just the right size for beginners and rental rates for surfboards are reasonable.

Not extremely crowdy or touristy. We had a lot of fun watching the wind surfers. We also tried boogie boarding down the beach a little that was a lot of fun.

Nice beach - not too wide, though. Showers & bathrooms. Limited (very) parking, but plenty available around neighboring streets. Quite crowded when we were there (on a Sunday in June). lots of families. Pretty wicked backwash tends to pull swimmers out from the shore (in case you're not the strongest in the water).

This beach has great location, good restrooms and facilities. Parking's good, but limited, but can park on nearby side streets. Good for families. Dogs allowed. Nice walking beach, and safe. Good for body surfing and boogie boarding. I go to this beach as often as I can when spending time on Oahu.
