On July 17, 1954, my Dad purchased a house and lot for a mere $15,000 and it's located on Hauoli St. in Kailua, Oahu. I remembered that date well as my Dad always reminded me that it was for my 10th birthday gift. The house was a three bedroom, one bath home that sat on a 10,000 square feet piece... More

Very nice warm water and big waves, a fun place to swim! Be careful for the rip tide, it can be strong in HI.

Kalama Beach park is a shallow water beach with walking paths. Often times there are festivals and other events held here.

Compared to other Kailua beaches, best place to go for less traffic during the work week. Although, I was living three blocks away at the time and never had to worry about parking, I believe that is the biggest issue for visitors who arrive later in the day.

The parking lot fills up quickly as there are very few stalls. You can park on a side street and walk across to access this beach. Sandy bottom with occassionally good boogie board and small kine surf waves. The bonus about this place is the fact that it does have bathroom facilities with showers. No life guards though so keep... More

wonderful white sands of Kailua beaches. There are restrooms and showers available. The only drawback here is that there is no Lifeguard and the parking lot is usually full (so one needs to park on nearby residential side-streets).

The beach is never too crowded, so you will find a spot on the beach to relax. The water cleanliness varies, so you might luck out and get a nice day. There are no waves, so don't bring a surf or boogie board. There is a decent parking lot, but will fill up on Sundays.
