This is a great beach to relax at. If you walk north (left) towards the marine corp base, there are some waves suitable for surfing, bodyboarding. Walk to the south (right) and you are headed toward Kailua beach and Lanikai. Kalama tends to be less crowded. No lifeguards. Suitability for young kids in the water depends on swimming skills- water... More

This is a great walking beach. It is nice and flat and firm, so perfect for folks who love to beach walk. It is also great for family days at the beach. Kalama Beach park has restrooms and showers.

Nice beach but parking is tough. you gotta be out of the small parking lot by 6 pm or your car gets ticketed and locked in for the night.

Located mid-point on Kailua beach, there are great views in either direction. Parking is usually an issue, so side street parking is necessary.

Not as nice as Kailua Beach, but still, very nice. Nicely kept up, great views. We brought a lunch out to the bank overlooking the beach, and spent a great hour just watching the waves roll in.

We stopped here to picnic around lunchtime. There were a few unsavory characters hanging out. We weren't put off by appearances but the conversation and behavior that ensued was really not good. I can not even type what conversation ensued within earshot. Not to mention some other activity which again we did not care to be around. It was very... More

Kalama Beach is a great place, and away from the crowds. Keep in mind the large grass area with Pavillion are not for the public, it is a place you reserve and pay for. There is a public beach access on the left(North) side right next to Kalama Beach Park. Park on a side street and BAMM there it is.... More

Quiet beach very lovely! Long strip of beach. No life guard. Not a good shelling beach. Great for walking. Must go.

Nice beach. Not crowded like Kailua and Lanikai -- I guess 'cause parking is really limited. Great body surfing here but super murky water (unlike Lanikai that is just a bit cloudy).

We love this area! My husband I were back to Oahu, but stayed in Waikiki this time, but couldn't stay away from Kailua area, so drove back to the beach. It just affirmed that this is a great beach!! We stayed in the area last time we were in Oahu and enjoyed a nice morning walk every day. It is... More
