Hard to get here, hard to park, no waves, but few people. It's in the middle of the bay, so fewer kite surfers, but still a lot of people in the area. You have to move car at 6 pm if you managed to get one of the 10 stalls.

This beach was about a five minute drive from where we stayed, and it was the absolute epitome of what I imagined a Hawaiian beach to be. We are here a couple of weeks after Spring Break, and I found it to be mostly empty on a weekday, just a handful of people exercising in the morning hours. My five-year-old... More

Found this beach by searching Google. Glad we went here as afterwards we went to Lanikai beach and the tide was up so there wasn't much beach to lounge on. Kalama was quiet, crystal blue waters and white sand. Would definitely visit again. Seemed to be locals only and there was probably six people on this section of beach. I... More

Come early in the morning and it isn't so busy. If you come during a more busy time, Parking is hard to come by, normally everyone just waits by and hopes another person leaves. Otherwise, the views are great, sand is good for running if you like to run on the beach, and the water is nice(not too rough.) The... More

This place has changed from years ago. No more driving right up to the place. There's now a parking lot & viewing area looking down on the beach. Everyone's now getting to know the place, so be patient. Still had a good time with family

Kalama has just enough waves in the surf to make it fun body surfing and jumping waves but does not leave you feeling beat up. We kept coming back to Kalama beach. Parking is scarce - but you can park up the side streets near the park. The park has a shower facility for rinse off after coming off of... More

Kailua beach is one of the best beaches in Hawaii. A five mile arc of white sand beach, reasonably protected from stronger waves. Great swimming and body surfing too. Kalama beach park is a smaller but nicer park than the larger Kailua beach park. Get there early as parking is limited, especially on weekends

Like all the others have mentioned go early if you don't want a headache of parking! This beach is normally clean and clear. Lots of people doing activities so be safe and keep an eye out.

We stayed next to Kailua Beach, but someone told us about this beach about a mile further up the coast. It is better for boogey boarding which is what I like to do. We went two different afternoons, and parking is very tough. Had to park across the street in an addition one time. The beach is quiet, and did... More
