This beach was right across the street from the rental house, our family was staying. Beach is clean &, has length in walking. There are however, some wierdo's. One afternoon saw man talking to himself with swear words flying & yelling at beach goers "What R U staring at blankety blank?" Had the Duck Dynasty look-but very dirty. Also, last... More

Miles of fine sandy beach. Fairly flat sand for easy walking. Gentle slope in shallow waters for swimming. Clean water with sandy bottom. Usually calm waters perfect for a kayak.Fairly busy on the weekend but quiet midweek. Large enough to easily find a nice spot.

After spending days on the leeward shore with waves over 10 ft., we ventured over to windward side and are so grateful did! We went on a Tuesday. It was not crowded and what a relief for my kids ( 13&14) to be able to get into the water. The sand was less coarse on Kailua Beach so they made... More

After reading all the reviews of this beach I have to say it is really over rated. Please don't get me wrong, it is a nice beach but it is far from perfect. I thought there were much better beaches on Oahu and Maui. It was really windy the whole day that I went. I hear that mornings typically have... More

The waters are warmer than Waikiki and the white powder sand is great. The beach is not crowded and there are places to get out of the sun (shade) for kiddo's and fair skinned adults. The beach is next to the market for a sandwich and bottled water. The locals love this beach for a reason and you will too!

After going to the Honolulu/Waikiki beach, this beach by far tops either of those beaches by a ton!!!! The sand was actual sand and not rocks, the water was warmer, the view better, less crowded, and you could actually enjoy yourself!!

In the afternoon, parts of the beach are shaded, which is perfect for those who want to enjoy the beach without worrying about sunburn.

Long, soft, sandy beaches. Beautiful aqua waters. Not too crowded. Decent parking lot too! Right near Kalapawai Market, so pick up a sandwich, a bag of chips and have lunch on the beach! We had our floaty innertube so we spent the afternoon floating around the ocean. It was perfect!

I've never seen a such beautiful beach before, even in a tropical paradise as Hawaii are. I should enjoy a walk on the beach or a swim at the sunrise. So beautiful and peacefull. I dream to go and visit again!

I personally think this is better than Waikiki Beach except there's no sunset. The beach is clean and lots of local hang out there. There's is a section leads to a river, it's very safe for kids to swim at the shallow water. I didn't swim but I walked from one end to the other. Such a fine sand beach.
