Awesome hike to the falls. This is a better choice than pillbox. My pungent to swim at the falls if you like. Just be careful not to ingest the water and do not swim if you have open sores. The water could be infected by run off from wild pig waste. Just be careful. This is a must do hike.

If you aren't afraid of mud, slipping and sliding, falling down and having a great adventure, then this is for you! The mud covered your shoes and at points would cover your laces, there was no doubt that someone would fall at one point on the hike. The waterfall at the end was worth the climb. Cliff jumping at the... More

The best part of this hike was not the waterfall, but the slip and slide experience of climbing a trail made of ankle-deep mud. You will probably be covered in mud, and might even fall into it a few times. It's all part of the fun if you go in expecting to get dirty. We read many reviews saying that... More

There is an excellent website that tells you everything you need to know before attempting this hike. It has maps showing where to park, a great overview of the trail with lots of pictures, and great advice on navigating your way safely. The website was put together by people who live in the area and have a lot of experience... More

Read a rather misleading description in the Oahu Revealed guidebook. I wish I had read the excellent guide written by an earlier reviewer. Very muddy, very slippery in spots, lots of bugs. Half of our group quit at the first river crossing and the other half persisted until the end but said the going got even rougher towards the end.... More

The hike itself is strenuous in that it is impossible to avoid the mud, as it comprises a good 3/4 of the trail and is very slippery. For an average hiker the hike to the falls probably takes about 50 minutes. If you go during the week, after 3 pm, chances are there will be nobody else there! The falls... More

Beautiful jungle-y trail, but it was so muddy that we gave up! We didn't mind getting dirty but we were slipping around so much it was actually dangerous--it hadn't even been raining! Could be nice on a drier day possibly. I would try again. I don't recommend for young kids!

This trail was listed as "easy to moderate" which is pretty misleading. We saw a few people turn around because they just couldn't take the slippy/slidey trail in the mud. It was pretty much mud the entire way and that is normal according to the locals. The falls are very nice and the swimming hole was great. Lots of daring... More

I'm not really sure how to review this hike, but because we had so much fun, I decided on 5 stars. We went on a rainy day--actually hiking in the rain, so I'm sure that made the mud so much worse. We were a total, muddy mess. And also, because of the rain, the stream was really flowing, and in... More
