Waterfall Amazement

If your looking to do a hike on Oahu you have to do Maunawaili Falls. Just not when it's been raining then it's extremely dangerous and muddy.

We saw all the brown shoes hanging on the power line at the entrance, this should have been a clue. We didn't check the weather that day, first mistake. It was cloudy out so that should have been a hint that it would be muddy, but I have a feeling that this place is super muddy all the time. I... More

This hike is worth the view at the end; the waterfalls are breathtaking! Definitely do this if you love swimming or adventure at the end (you can jump from the rocks into the water). I definitely have some tips though to ensure you enjoy it: -Wear shoes you don't mind ruining! You will literally get COVERED in mud. At one... More

We enjoyed this hike. It was very muddy and would recommend wearing shoes easily cleaned. This waterfall was great because you can jump in a swim in it if you want. The trail was easy to follow since there were lots of hikers on it. This is for those who want more of an adventure to a waterfall.

This hike was somewhat challenging. I fell twice because of the slippery mud and I was wearing good hiking shoes. I saw people going in with flip flops and laughed at the thought. I did see some guys doing it in bare feet...... This was a very rewarding hike with a beautiful waterfall at the end. It was very crowded... More

A nice hike through a rainforest, this one doesn't have the hills from some other hikes around the island, but it is one of the few places that traps in tremendous humidity and a smattering of biting bugs. The falls themselves are quite nice and worth the trip though. To get here you have to park in a neighborhood which... More

My family visited Oahu in July and top on our list was a "rain forest hike with waterfall." This hike perfectly fit the bill! I wasn't interested in the over-popular Manoa Falls hike (too many people and no swimming). Maunawili Falls is breath-taking. The hike is MUDDY! Like, 4-6 inch deep mud on most of the trail. That could be... More

This hike is awesome! As long as you prepare yourself, you will have a blast. When you get to the trail, you will have to park in the residential neighborhood nearby. There are NO bathrooms anywhere around, so make sure to prepare yourself. Also, load up on bug spray, as there are lots of mosquitos. As you walk up the... More

Constant stream crossing, assault by bugs, cigar puffing hordes of morons who should be in Florida,no space at the falls. Wonder how many people know what Leptospirosis is? Or that any fresh water stream in Hawaii is a great place to get it, AND that for whatever reason, the younger and healthier people are most likely to contract it.
