We wanted to visit a north shore beach, because we heard they were worth the drive and would have large waves. Upon looking at a map, we decided on Sunset Beach because it sounded cool and we would be there to watch the sun set. The beach sand was made of small shells, and was easy to walk on unlike... More

We could sit there for hours watching the waves and the surfing. It's a very long beach. It could do with a more parking. I'm not sure how they handle it during the busy season.

The best time to visit to see the big surf is in the winter time. The waves can be really amazing and there are a lot of great surfers to see. There are surfing events held here which is exciting to see but finding a parking spot during those times is quite a challenge. The beach is nice-good sand, clear... More

Even if you can't swim, go see this beach. It's the beach of dreams, of movies, of pro-surfers from all over the world. It's easy to get to, easy to park ( in off season, if you're patient) and so amazingly beautiful that you will walk away thanking God for this beautiful world. The constant surfing provides constant entertainment. It's... More

A beautiful and popular beach on the north shore. Warm turquoise waters, beautiful sand beach and several "trucks" close by to grab a bite to eat. We arrived before 10 and there weren't many people there. After 10 the buses start rolling in...

Went for the evening to watch the sunset and it was incredible. Watching the surfers in the waves whilst the sun sets was amazing. There is nothing blocking your view of the ocean and sun as it is such a wide open beach.

Spent a day. If you find yourself on Ohau. Take time to go. We just went and it was a wonderful day. Modest crowds. Great sand. During the winter months the surf is too much for swimming but we had a great time.

This beach is located on Hwy. 83 on the North side of the island. Parking is limited but it's a nice place to view the ocean or take a swim.

Soft sand, waves were a little rough, but the water was super warm and the beach was quiet and beautiful. So much better than Waikiki

beautiful blue waters washing over golden sun kissed sand - something right out of a novel and exactly what you would expect from an Hawaiian beach. We were so lucky to have arrived late on a quiet Sunday afternoon when the beach wasn't crowded and parking spaces were available. Wish we could have stayed for a sunset. There are palm... More
