We visited when waves were about 20 feet. The beach was set up for a surfing competition; however, surfers were not competing yet. It was a beautiful beach and areas were marked off with caution tape either due to the waves or the surfing competition. We stood their several minutes just gasping in awe of the ocean.

This is a gorgeous strip of sand with a park facility across the oceanside road. It is notorious for its large waves, definitely NOT a place for ocassional swimmers, very, very dangerous waters. For surfers, it is a paradise. There are 3 levels of peaks the outer level being where the largest waves break. I saw 10 footers breaking there,... More

Enjoyed setting up our chairs and walking on the beach. The water was crystal clear and there were several turtles and lots of fish. We set up for the afternoon and there was plenty of parking even at midday. There are several tourist buses that stop during the day, but it's kind of fun to watch them. Sharks cove and... More

By far this is our favorite beach on Oahu. We came over here a few weeks ago to watch the Professional Surfers practicing for the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. It's nice to have parking available without having to park on the edge of Kam Highway. Grab your beach chair, drinks, and a towel and walk a little bit down... More

Perfect place to watch the sunset, as you would imagine. We were there in the winter, so lots of nice big waves. Not too busy, very romantic.

Went specifically for the sunset. Unlike most of the North Shore beaches, sunset beach has a park across the street from the beach with ample parking. Came a little early with beach chairs to relax and watch the high surf. Was not disappointed with the sunset!

We stopped by this beach on our island tour, not many food stalls when there is an event on so take some snacks or pack a lunch with you, parking is hard find to esp when it gets packed!

We visited on 11/14/14. Quite possibly one of the most magnificent sunsets I've ever had the privilege of viewing. The waves were intense and awesome. As the sun set with the backdrop of that sea, the puffy white clouds and crisp sky, it was stunningly gorgeous. Do not come to O'ahu without catching at least the sunset here, if not... More

Was here during the HICPro event, the qualifier for the VTCS. I could spend a whole day watching the surfers and the waves on this beach and have fun at the same time. Although there are people watching the event too, it did not seem as crowded as it was. I would love to hangout at this beach even for... More

Nice beach. Take a beach chair or a blanket to watch the sun settle. Not too crowded. Convenient parking.
