Aquarium on Maui

Really appreciated the layout of this aquarium. It was easy to get around, kind small but worth the money while waiting to go to the airport for our flight home.

If your in Maui and the weather sucks.. sorry about your luck. But this place is not a bad way to kill a couple hours and still see the sea life. Pricey for adults and watch the gift shop if you have kids.

Took our 4 year old grandson and he loved it! The exhibits are geared toward all ages, but his favorite was the big tunnel tank. A do-able perfect size aquarium for small children.

We needed a break from the sun and heat, so we headed to the Maui Ocean Discovery Center in Maalaea. We were happy to see a sign letting us know they offer a AAA discount, a nice perk right off the bat. When we walked into the Center, we were outside at first, my 17 year old exclaimed that she... We visited here after getting off the plane because we wanted something mellow to do until we could go to our vacation rental. The aquarium is nice and is a combination of indoors and outdoors. Lots of great exhibits. We happened to get there during feeding time of the sharks and rays so that was fun to watch.

It's a great little aquarium with plenty of informative displays. They have a ton of tropical fish! I think it's the most in the world. They also have a couple outdoor tanks with sea turtles and juvenile sharks/rays, as well as a touch tank. The volunteer there were very knowledgeable and we had a nice chat with her. By far,... We only had about 1.5 hours at the Ocean Discovery Center before it closed, and we could easily have spent more time there. We got really engrossed in watching the tropical reef fish, and we identified a number of species that we'd seen while snorkeling but didn't know their names. I also found the exhibit about native Hawaiians to be... More

We got there as it was opening so it wasn't as crowded early on. We enjoyed our visit but we felt the attraction was overpriced for what displays were there. We enjoyed walking through the tunnel with all the sharks swimming overhead! Nice gift shop.

Loved the walk through tunnel where we could sit and watch the reef sharks and stingrays swim about - right overhead! Interesting creatures including sea horses, jelly fish and a strange looking frog fish which had the kid's curiosity. However, the entry price is quite steep for 2 adults and 1 child, and we were all the way through in... More
