A little bit of climbing at an incline but so beautiful! Not bad of a hike most can do it. Such peace and serenity and great views! Definitely worth a trip!

This trail is for families with young children, its easy and not strenuous. If you like to hike this is not it.... come here for the view and serenity as there is not much of a hike. Parking is $5 which I believe is a bit much considering they dont have much of a parking lot and the restroom area... More

We visited the Iao Needle on our last day. It doesn't really take too much time to walk around a little bit. The views here and of the Iao Needle are very pretty. It only costs $5 to get in, which really isn't a lot. But there really isn't too much to this place. It's a good place to kill... More

We went to Iao valley on our last day on the way to the airport, was a great place to spend and hour, but don't plan any more time than that for this place.

This was a nice area to walk around. If you have a small child it's NOT stroller friendly so bring a carrier. Expect to walk some stairs. Porta potties were available.

Hop the fence and do the REAL hike! Past the sign that says "don't hop the fence" hop the fence and continue on up the trail. Not for the faint of heart, this narrow path leads you through Lush forest, steep inclines, and some muddy terrain, but rewards you with wonderful views, and a great feeling of accomplishment. It's about... More

Of the non-beach things to do, Iao Valley is worth a nod. An easy drive up from Wailuku there are some spots along the way to have your grindz. The Park itself has poor parking for which you pay $5, and probably have to wait for a space. You can make a climb to get the view, or just stroll... More

This is a small Park with views of hill upon hill of lush vegetation, tropical plants and water cascading everywhere. The drive up here is along the scenic West Maui Mountains. It was quite breathtaking as we took the easy hike up and down the marked pathways. There are lots of steps and slippery climbing paths to the viewing area... More

Peaceful walk by stream somewhat bare with all the vegetation that had been chopped away. Hate the parking fee! Beautiful spot!

Although this is listed as a must-do visit on Maui, it will mostly appeal to nature lovers, photographers and those interested in Hawaii's history. Iao Valley is about a 40 minute drive from Lahaina, about five miles west of Wailuku in central Maui (BTW, there is a Costco in Wailuku!). Bring a camera and an umbrella since there are stunning...
