Ok, so you've gained 5 pounds eating at Maui's pacific rim restaurants and have done a sunset cruise and a luau. What next? How about live theater? The "historic Iao theater" in Wailuku is host to some of Hawaii's best live theater productions. Very popular with locals, the Iao boasts an intimate experience (the worst seat in the house here... The Historic Ioa Theater is a delight all on its own. It is a wonderful venue for live theater and we attend every chance we get. The organization, Maui OnStage, has been at it for decades and they get it right every time. The Adams Family is a funny and charming presentation. As always, the musical and performance skills are... More

In the quiet town of Wailuku, HI is the Historic IAO Theater. This Theater dates to 1927...and was revived in 1995 with a complete renovation and given a spot on the "National Register of Historic Places". While the physical theater is unique and comfortable...it is the skilled and talented local theater community that makes this a great place to visit.... More

You'll love this place if you like Art Deco Buildings. Catch one of the local Maui theater troupes for a plus. Better plays and events than one would think.

Went to see Elf-The Musical here for Christmas. First time at this historic theater - vintage, but not ornate. Enthusiastic community players that were doing their best.Live musicians in a small "pit area" provided the music. Prices started at $20 and it appeared that you could see well no matter what seat you might have in this theater. Parking is... More

I went to see a Maui Youth on Stage production here and had a blast. Great show, excellent venue and now I plan to always check the schedule here - it's a great place.

Natalie and I just got in the door from watching Tim Burton's Graveyard Cabaret, starring members of Maui on Stage and The Kit Kat Club. The show was absolutely fantastic! This was done using all local talent! The advertisement for the show said dress up for Hallowe'en if you like, and EVERYBODY did! The theatre may be old, but it... More

Iao Theater has some great cmmunity Theater and they are always worth going to. We have some amazing local talent here on Maui. the Theater was also in one of those "most haunted" TV shows where they captured something on camera on the stage. Very cool. Check it out!

This very old theater is now home to the local thesbians and the shows that we have seen have been terrific! When ever we are in Maui we try to go to at least one performance at the Iao Theater.
