We debated the merits of getting up at 1:45AM, driving 40 mins to Paia, etc.,etc. for several days but in the end we were soooooo glad we experienced the sunrise on Haleakula, and Maui Sunriders and our guide Remi made the experience all that much more enjoyable. The bikes, helmets and other equipment they furnish are good. (The gloves were... More

Having heard bad things about the group tours and the injuries suffered when people were hurried my wife and I wanted the freedom of a self guided tour. I have to say we struck gold with this company. A 2:15am wake for the drive to Paia wasn't as brutal as it sounds because we did this on the second morning... More

My wife and I did the summit tour with the 9:00 a.m. check-in. This company offers good quality treck bikes and equipment. We enjoyed excellent weather and we opted not to take the rain gear although it was available. The summit tour itself is really just an opportunity to take photos in the areas accessible by car near the visitor... More

My wife and I wanted a self-guided sunrise ride down Haleakala. After reading reviews and their website, we chose Maui Sunriders and are so glad that we did. They had Trek bikes with disc brakes, well maintained safety equipment, gloves, backpack with bike lock, outerwear, and a caring dedicated staff. The staff really made the difference. Natalie and Remy emphasized... More

There are different bike tours that one can do but I wanted to do the Sunrise tour and since bike riding is one of my favorite hobbies, I thought a self guided tour was cool. Needless to say I had to wake up at 1:30 am and be at Maui Sunriders at 3:15 am. The shop itself was a little... More

We really enjoyed this tour to watch the sunrise on the summit of Haleakala and then bike back down to sea level.2:30 a.m. Then, Natalie, our driver took us to the top (10,000 ft elevation) where we watched an amazing double sunrise that surrounded us on all sides. The sun first rose over the horizon and then it rose over... More

We booked the Summit tour. At the store we picked up our helmets, wind breaker gear, and backpacks (with locks), had a safety meeting. Great and knowledgeable staff. Lots of little shops around to get drinks for the ride - go to Mana's Grocery store within 5 minutes away. Drove up around 9 AM, took over an hour to get... More

I understand that this is the best deal you can make to see the sunrise and bike the volcano down, but don't expect nothing else... No sympathy, or a cup of coffee... A coffee at 3:00 am would be a nice treat to Sunriders customers and wouldn't cost that much... After the sun comes up prepare to rush you way... More

Thank You for taking the time to review your experience. I am pleased to hear that the sunrise was beautiful and the bike ride was awesome, because we are after all a bike tour company which gives you an opportunity to see the sunrise before your bike ride. So you did, in fact, "get what you paid for". There are... More

We rated our viewing of Sunrise on Mt Haleakala followed by the ride down to sea level as one of the highlights of our visit to Hawai’i.  The sunrise was interesting as it gradually revealed the crater of the volcano. The bike ride down the volcano to the coast was a real adventure, with pleasant changing scenery.  This tour offered... More

But the bag they provided for our ride down the mountain busted open and my husband and I lost our camera somewhere along the way. All in all, this is an experience that we would highly recommend. We opted for the sunrise tour, which yes, you do have to get up early to beat the sun up, but it was... More

Thank You for your nice review. We too were disappointed that your zipper wasn't zipped up tight and you lost all of your beautiful sunrise photos! We will be sure to use your experience to remind customers to do the same to avoid additional mishaps. (yours was a first, and hopefully the last) We hope to see you next time you... More
