I did this ride with my 11 year old daughter. We opted for the 9am tour rather than the sunrise tour. Remy was our guide to the top. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Safety was obviously paramount and they reviewed it with us multiple times even giving of examples of how people got injured so we knew how to... More

If you are only interested in riding the bike down the volcano this might be the ride for you. After getting there at three in the morning your hustled into vans for the ride up to the top. They provide no coffee or anything to eat. So bring your own including water. Also we were told not to eat in... More

These guys run a very professional service. We were in Maui vacationing from Charlotte, NC. We felt very safe and we can tell safety means a lot to them. The trip was awesome and I highly recommend going with a bike company WITHOUT guides. You can go at your own pace (fast or slow) and see a lot more. This... More

Everything the Sunriders did was spot on. At the office they deck you out with a helmet, gloves, backpack and waterproofs. The backpack comes with a map, a set of phone numbers in case you have any problems, and a bike lock. Once you've got your kit, it's time for the drive up the mountain. On the way up the... More

Another must-do event on Maui: take in a sunrise at Haleakala and then bike back down into the town of Paia. This trip was fantastic! I highly recommend to use this company instead of booking through your hotel services. The go-at-your-own pace is wonderful, and we were able to stop in the cowboy town of Makawao to enjoy some mind-blowingly... More

Joe was Fantastic! Starting in the morning, Joe got us each a "made for impact" serious helmet, rain coats and pants (which we didn't need, yeah! but were available) and then a backpack preloaded with a chain and lock, and a great map. Driving us up the top of the mountain he pointed out a bunch of fun places to... More

The sunrise was indeed beautiful and the guide very nice. Everything else was just okay. The disappoint was that we kind of got there late. We made it for the sunrise, but there were so many people already there that there was not a decent spot to be found. The other thing was that all of the good info our... More

I've never taken a guided tour, but I would highly recommend the unguided tour because you go at your own pace, whether that is fast or slow, and you can stop when needed to take pictures or for whatever reason. The prices here weren't bad and they allowed us the freedom of the unguided tour. The van ride up the... More

We've traveled to many places and done all the local tourist-y things; scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, hiking, etc. Someone suggested this "bike ride down the mountainside" and it sounded interesting. Sunriders outfits you with a downhill biker's helmet right there in the office when you check in. You're also given a backpack to secure your belongings so they don't... More

We did the Summit Tour. Once we reached the top it felt quite spiritual, the landscape and views were amazing and to be above the clouds! The bike ride down the volcano was great fun. there is a bit of traffic on the road but you just have to keep your wits about you and trust the road users know... More
