Wonderful adventure on Maui. Each time we come to Maui we try to find a new treat to visit. This year our best find was the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao. Our goal was to watch the glass blowing demonstration by artist Evan Schauss. It was beyond our expectations. Evan was patient with our questions and a delight... More

A real functioning art centre for ceramics and glassblowing, both actively at work when we went. Baldwin House has an interesting history of its own. Ethel Baldwin was no mean silversmith, but unfortunately we not able to see her work when we went this second time: you may have better luck. House and gardens a pleasant place to visit and... More

We were between the checkout at our timeshare and dinner at Mama's before our flight. The center is about 30 minutes from the main road through lovely plantation country. The main house has been restored and is beautiful, there is a small historical display of the plantation and the Baldwin family. The center provides art education for the children of... More

Our artist friend suggested we take a diversion on the road to Hana and stop by the town of Makawoa. It was a great idea. This is a shopping experience. There are great clothing shops and better yet, wonderful stores with art by local artists. I collect pineapple art and this place certainly offers a diversity of it. My favorite... More

The Hui is an important and helpful place for community art education on the island of Maui. Beautiful location above Pa'ia, and an interesting historical site.

I found the Hui through a google search after, literally, decades of trips to Maui. I am a potter, and was looking for a clay studio to use during our annual trips. I hit the mother load! It is a different world up there, and a great respite from too much sun on the beach. Stroll the grounds, check out... More

This historical estate is now a non-profit art center serving the Maui community. What a gem! It's open to the public, definitely worth a stop on your way up or down Baldwin Avenue between Paia and Makawao. I live in Paia and make sure to take all of my mainland visitors there. The grounds are unbelievably beautiful, with majestic old... More

The Hui is one of the best kept secrets in Hawaii. You can easily arrange a tour of the classes and grounds - or plan a luncheon for a small group. The exhibits are excellent and the classes and teachers superb! A wonderful experience at one of Maui's most well preserved and historic plantation estates.

We had our 2 kids (6 and 8 years of age) attend the 5-day workshop "Camp Kaluanui - Sense-ational! - Exploring Art through the Five Senses", and it was a great success. Thanks to the teachers for making it an unforgettable experience for the kids and to the sponsor for supporting the fantastic facilities. Special thanks to Program Director Anne-Marie... More

My family loves to take art classes & camps at the Hui along with attending exhibition openings. So much to experience and see at the Hui. Whether you live on Maui or visiting there is definitely something for everyone. Check out there website for upcoming workshops and events!
