We attended both the Drums of the Pacific and the Old Lahaina Luau on our honeymoon and loved this one! We paid extra for the VIP seating and it was worth it! We were greeted with a shell lei and a mai tai at a separate entrance. Make sure to get your picture taken near the other entrance beforehand. We... more

We attended this luau and was pretty disappointed. The "luau" took place in an empty lot of the hotel (although it was ocean-front) with a stage. After falling in line, they let you in and give you a necklace made from shells. If you wanted a lei, you had to buy it. After being let in, there were a couple... more

Good food, good show, GREAT drinks!!! We used the Drums of the Pacific as the receptions for our 10th anniversary vow renewal. We had 25 guests fly in from the 48, and they all LOVED IT!!! It's a little pricey, but worth it. Great lu'au experience. more

I suppose it depends on how distilled a traveler wants his/her cultural experiences to be. This is a highly-produced show, replete with smarmy emcee and flashing stage lights. The DOTP Luau venue is comprised of a thousand or so plastic chairs around folding tables, all arranged to view a large amphitheater stage. The food is a basic buffet of local-style... more

On 2 other trips to Maui we have attended the Old Lahina Luau. Our intention was to do that again however we waited a little too long to make our reservations and were shut out on the night we could attend. We opted for the Hyatt primarily to see the fire dance. The whole experience was classic tourist trap, vanilla.... more

My boyfriend and I wanted to go to a luau, but they were so expensive we decided we would rather spend our money on something else. At the last minute my boyfriend found this one, which was much cheaper, and we decided to go. The only bad things I have to say is standing outside to get a good seat... more

We went to the DOTP luau located at the Hyatt Regency in Maui. The Hyatt is gorgeous, but we were not impressed with the luau. I felt like I was at a Polynesian revue. The setting was so disappointing for such a beautiful resort. The dancers were alright, one of the guys kept messing up. The waiters were under staffed,... more

We chose the Hyatt luau over the popular Old Lahaina luau on our first trip to Maui earlier this month because of the fire dance. In the end it turned out to be the wrong decision. The Hyatt Luau is nothing short of a sham We lined up for the luau outside the luau grounds at 4.30 in the afternoon.... more

My husband and I purchased VIP tickets for the luau. Totally worth the extra money for 3 reasons. First, we did not have to arrive early to wait in the long line to be seated. Second, we were seated right in front of the stage. Third, we were first to get our food. The buffet was absolutely delicious! There was... more

We actually went to the Drums of the Pacific Lu'au as a wedding reception (my sister had just gotten married.) The show itself was fantastic!! The firedancers were my son's (6 yrs old) favorite. I was expecting mediorce food at best, but was pleasantly suprised to find absolutely delicious food!! We all tried a bit of everything (with the exception... more
