We went to the DOTP luau located at the Hyatt Regency in Maui. The Hyatt is gorgeous, but we were not impressed with the luau. I felt like I was at a Polynesian revue. The setting was so disappointing for such a beautiful resort. The dancers were alright, one of the guys kept messing up. The waiters were under staffed,... more

My husband and I purchased VIP tickets for the luau. Totally worth the extra money for 3 reasons. First, we did not have to arrive early to wait in the long line to be seated. Second, we were seated right in front of the stage. Third, we were first to get our food. The buffet was absolutely delicious! There was... more

We actually went to the Drums of the Pacific Lu'au as a wedding reception (my sister had just gotten married.) The show itself was fantastic!! The firedancers were my son's (6 yrs old) favorite. I was expecting mediorce food at best, but was pleasantly suprised to find absolutely delicious food!! We all tried a bit of everything (with the exception... more

I took my parents to Maui to celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary and we chose the Drums of the Pacific Luau because we were staying at the Hyatt Regency Maui. It was great! The food was served buffet style and was quite good. The show was very entertaining and better than the show at the last luau I went to... more

While honeymooning in Maui, we went to see the Drums of the Pacific Luau at the Hyatt. The show focused on the history and differences of the Polynesian islands. The show was authentic and interesting. The show included a full buffet which was delicious. There was steak, chicken, noodle salad, fruit and rice. We even ate poi, which I enjoyed.... more

I have been to the show NUMEROUS times as I am an island local. I can say with 100% certainty that the show once again AMAZING! After a couple years of mediocre performances it is again the best show on the island. I went this month 2009 and it was excellent. My friends that were visiting said it was the... more

Never been to one before, and I came with high expectations. I was expecting it to have a view of the ocean or the beach but the area was all surrounded by walls. The roast pig underground was whisked away and then suddenly they're calling us up to eat leading me to suspect that we weren't really eating the one... more

My family and I had a wonderful time at this luau. The performance and food were great. My sons especially enjoyed the fire-juggling-eating-throwing dancers. Tip #1: If you want to sit up front you have two options: 1. Pay the extra VIP fee to get in early or, 2. Get in line at 4:15pm. Seating is first come first served... more

Since my family has been visiting Lahaina some 12 years ago we have attended this luau at least 5 times. Each time a novice visitor comes, we are proud to take them to the Hyatt for a surefire excellent evening. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and cheerful. From the moment you are greeted with leis and mai-tais, till you leave... more

We really enjoyed this luau experience. Overall, we felt it was professionally done from the food presentation and quality to the show itself. One important tip: to get a good seat toward the front, be sure to get in line be around 415 PM at the latest. We had the opportunity to check out the location/setup for a couple other... more
