Owner description: Snorkeling trips to Lanai and Whale watching in season Constantly in search of the "Perfect Day" of snorkeling or whale watching, Captain Steve and his crew will stop at nothing to ensure unparalleled service and quality. Waste no time in discovering the secrets of the reef and playing with dolphins, humpback whales, turtles and rays. There is no telling what we might encounter on any given day. No two trips are alike, and that's probably what keeps the captains and crew so friendly and accommodating. They are as excited about going to work as the guests are about going on a Maui rafting adventure! History Established in 1986. Captain Steve's Rafting is a true example of the words "owner operated." Since he started his business in 1986, Steve has been insisting on personal service and satisfaction for every guest. As he explains, "I want to make sure everyone who comes with us absolutely loves the experience." It's hard to find someone more sincerely dedicated to making visitors happy. That's why so many customers keep coming back to Captain Steve's year after year. A note with regard to the captains and crew: It is widely known that Captain Steve has been the only operator of the family business for the past three decades, but with the advent of his second boat, he obviously cannot be two places at once. He is therefore committed to selecting only people who truly care about the craft of tourism and wish to make a positive impact on the experience of the guests. Thus "going the extra mile" is always sought after when considering a representative of his company.

I have gone on several whale watches and Capt. Steve's is the best. Whether it is Capt. Steve himself or his other captain, Jonathan, they are professional, knowledgeable, and respectful of the whales. These whale watches were the highlight of our vacation!

Wow. Just wow. We had done a catamaran whale watching a few years ago and were amazed but today's zodiak tour with Captain Steve & Jennifer, his assistant, was fantastic. You are right at water level and everything is in your face. Nobody has a bad seat and its an intimate adventure with the whales. Great information, great action, great... More

We have been going out with Capt Steve and crew for over 20 years, and our most recent 12/2014 trips did not disappoint. We elected for 3 whale watch tours, and I alone went on the all day Lanai snorkel trip, over a two week period around Christmas and New Years. Two of the trips had to be cancelled and... More

Full disclosure, my family and I chartered our excursion so we were able to combine whale watching with some snorkeling. It's a bit expensive, but if you've got a decent size group, ask about this option well in advance. You won't regret it. First impression when you arrive at the dock is off-putting. It's a bit run down. Keep in... More

Captain Steve's whale watching trips are offered at 4 times throughout the day. Our family of 5 opted for the 9:45 am trip. We did not have the best luck seeing whales close up, but that's the way it goes sometimes. We saw quite a few whales but it was from a distance. Steve and the female guide (maybe his... More

This is our second time booking the deluxe snorkel trip to Lanai and it is even better in whale season. Anytime we go to Hawaii or have friends that visit we will highly recommend Captain Steve's.

Without a doubt the most spectacular trip for snorkeling and whale watching EVER! We did the catamaran dinner cruise the night before, because our senior parents didn't want to do Steves trip without a bathroom. But after we got back and they heard our stories and saw our photos they regretted it. His experience and boat size allows for close... More

A pod of Whales was singing so loud you could hear them under our boat... Then two of them actually surfaced right by our boat and they both stayed close to the boat for quite a long time. We could see both whales just under the surface of the water and then they would lift their head out and look... More

We went on a whale watching cruise 3 years ago and really enjoyed a big boat (Pacific Whale foundation) with my elderly parent who found it very comfortable. It was easy to see the whales as we were high off the water. Read reviews on trip advisor this time about how nice it was to be on a 'raft' (inflatable... More
