After scoring zero at whale watching in Alaska, it was tops on my list for Maui. I wasn't disappointed with HawaiiOceanProject. We saw several individual whales but an encounter with several males vying for breeding rites was breathtaking. The young people working the trip made it even more enjoyable. All for a good cause.

My wife and I booked a whale watching cruise through Hawaii Ocean Project and really enjoyed every minute of it! The crew was very knowledgeable and we were able to see over 10 whales during our 2 hour cruise. We got to see 2 different calves learning to breech as well as 2 males competing for a female mate. Overall... More

Did two dinner cruises and three whale watch trips in a 12 day period this year. Buy a dinner cruise (the prime rib is very good) and you get a whale watch for free on another day. By mid- March the whale population was thinning out, so I recommend going earlier in the year for the best viewing experience.

It was easy to book tickets on-line before arrival. Several available times for departure. We had dozens of sightings of breaches and blows. Many were doubles with a mother and a calf. A crew member gave a commentary during the ride. Eat lunch before going - just drinks and snacks on board. It was cooler on the top deck. if... More

The cruise cost us $174 for my husband and I and then an expected $20 gratuity once on board the boat. I definitely do not think the food was worth this amount of money; however, the dinner did come with 3 drink tickets each and the ambiance of watching the sunset was beautiful. We had requested a 'rail view' which... More

Clean your bathrooms! Don't advertise swimming with sea turtles (didn't even see one) and dolphins (saw a few at a distance). Food awful CHEAP for a not cheap price. Don't dare ask for your 1 " free" cocktail until you are done snorkelling. Get prepared for dirty looks for the next cocktail you want to purchase. The places we snorkeled... More

We took a daytime 2 hour whale watching trip and an evening sunset dinner cruise. The water is rough until you get out of the harbor area and very windy and cold! You sit on top deck (outside) to eat so bring warm sweater/coat. For the dinner cruise, the food was very good...we were actually surprised! Service is ok. Our... More

Was not good water for it and it was cold but the crew and captain were awesome and did their very best to give everyone a good time for their money despite the less than ideal turbulent water. The boat was sturdy. They even returned my lost watch. And i may not have been a whale watching tour but we... More
