I've tried to call multiple times and even left messages. I never heard back. Does anyone know if this place is closed? Their website says they shut down August 1st but someone else wrote a review August 17th.

Loved it! The line follows a 6-mile stretch of historic right-of-way originally constructed to haul sugar cane from the sugar plantation fields in Kāʻanapali to the Pioneer Mill in Lahaina. Our visit was in May 2010.

A trip form Lahaina up to Ka'anapali and return should not be missed. A very relaxing ride through Lahaina up to the glitz of Ka'anapali through the old cane fields with great entertainment and commentry was a highlight.

The Sugar Cane Train is fun for the whole family and is great transportation from Lahaina town into the resort district of Kaanapali. Scenic tour of the residential neighborhood, golf courses and the many shops and eateries. Great photo ops wíth the engines. Tiny souvenir shop.

We took our 3 year old granddaughter on the Sugar Cane Train and she loved it. The round trip ride is only six miles each way, but the open window cars provide a lot of fun for small children. This is a narrow gauge train that chugs along with an occasional part where the branches of bushes that have grown... More

Apparently this has changed hands since my last visit. The gift shop was poorly stocked and the clerk was on a personal phone call. The two regular places to buy tickets were closed. The first time I stopped (morning) they weren't even open. The second time I went I was the only one there and I was told that the... More

This is a nice way to see part of Maui that you would otherwise miss. It takes you near the wealthy areas and also by some lower income properties. You go past golf fairways and sugar cane fields. Part of it runs near the shoreline, too. Nice view except for the power lines. Photo tip: Sit on the right side... More

Have visited Maui numerous times with my wife and son (now 12). Each trip he's wanted to ride the train - until this year. Gotten too old I guess. It is fun with little ones and I would recommend it.
