The pagoda and buddha are definitely worth seeing at the Jodo Mission. There is free parking right on street and it wasn't crowded at all when I visited, I had the place to myself on a weekday morning. When you park, you will also see the Puupiha Cemetery sand graveyard right in front of you. It was interesting for sure,... More

After reading about the Buddha and the Mission, we found it down a quiet side street near the Cannery Mall. Well worth the quick walk to see the statue and the 3 buildings. No tour...you just walk around yourself.

Lahaina Jodo Mission is a gorgeous attraction with a lovely, safe beach for small children. The temple, Pagoda and Buddha are very lovely and if you are there when the shower trees are in bloom you will take some of your favorite photos there. The weekend closest to the 4th of July is their OBon Festival which is a truly... More

We stopped to see the Jodo Mission. It was quiet and no one was there. The building were open, you can look inside, but not enter. I enjoyed seeing the site and it took under 30 minutes. Worth a visit. Calm and peaceful

The sign at the main entrance says: Private, Religious purposes only. I didn't see it until we went out since we entered it through the side gate. There are a large Buddha statue, bell house and pagoda on this temple campus as well as a worship hall. It celebrates the immigrants from Japan since they brought their Buddhist culture with... Easy to find, free access, nice spot to spend an hour. Not much in the way of plaques or information but beautiful none the less.

Quite little area near the wharf. Follow front street north and turn left just before the bride. Temple, one very large Buddha, and a large bell. Free, but donations are accepted.

My sister and I made a point of seeking this place out on our last to Lahaina. I'm glad we did. At the time we were there, we were the only two people. Makes me wonder how many visitors even know this place exists. My main reason for going was to see the giant Buddha, and he did not disappoint.... More
