We went on the 4:30 trip, June 3, 09. Two words for ya: "Gotta go!". If you wait until 4:30 you get great light on the island for photos. Although the harbor was calm, they take you around to where the tradewinds come across, and then you're moving! PLAN TO GET WET. I wore a white tank top, not realizing... more
The America ll Performance Sailing trip was the real thing, and I would recommend it, but definitely not for children. My husband and I were in Maui in July. We were looking for a sailing tour on a real sailboat that actually put up the sails. We saw an ad for the America ll Sailing trip aboard a 65 foot... more
I had high expectations based on the reviews I've read. We were expecting to get wet but didn't. Although the staff was friendly, they were not very talkative and wish they were more interactive. One of the crew members did tell everyone about the history of America II which was very interesting. For snacks, they had various Austin crackers and... more
Unfortunately we did not have the great experience as the others. The ride was fine (no one got very wet at all), but the 3 young women who seemed to be there solely as eye candy for the crew (not paying customers) really detracted from the trip. We were seated near the crew and the inane chatter and the jockeying... more
We had excellent wind this week and thus a wonderful trip! We got wet but the water is warm and it puts everyone on the boat in good spirits! The staff and skippers were friendly and accomodating. more
Absolutely the best deal on the island. Here is a hint if you want to avoid getting totally drenched: Sit on the left side of the boat (if you are facing the front). Seriously, those folks got a splash or two, but my side of the boat was literally full of water. What a blast, though. I would do it... more
We sailed on the America II on the afternoon of May 16, 2008. Unfortunately, the winds were almost calm that day so we did not get to experience the full ride. They issued us 'windchecks' for a free ride in the future. Unfortunately, it was our last day, it would have been nicer to have the option of a refund.... more
My family and I took the America II sailboat on 4-21-08 and it was the highlight of our trip. My 2 young boys absolutely loved it. It was very exciting, and we saw two whales. I thought this was a great value and worth every penny. It was not overpriced like many other activities. Waves came over the side of... more
My wife and I signed up for an afternoon ride on America II, hoping for an extreme sailing experience. Wow did we get that!! Our destination was the channel between Maui and Molokai, where it turned out winds were blowing at a steady 30 knots with huge swells. In our prime seating up front to the portside, we were absolutely... more
