My daughter wanted to surf since the day we stepped off the plane in Maui. We stayed in Kahana so we inquired about lessons with another company but they did not have a group lesson available. Our hotel recommended Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy in Lahaina.(20 min drive) We checked in about 30 minutes early and the staff helped get the... More

Our 7 year old took his first surf lesson with Josh today and he loved it! Josh had him up on the board and surfing straight away, he was great with him. The location is perfect, not too deep but with enough waves so he could surf right to shore. I thought he might be bored with a 2 hour... More

If you are even a little interested in Surfing you should use these guys. This is the 2nd trip to Maui and the second time we used these guys. Instructors 'tan' Dan an Ikaka are awesome. Felt totally safe and fun for all. Ages 8-50 surfed in our group.

This is a great place to get lessons if you are a new beginner. Our family, Mom, Dad and 13 yr old twins all stood up and surfed on our first lesson thanks to the mild surf at the break and Benny, our instructor. Benny was an excellent teacher boiling the basics down to easy to master steps. He's a... More

My two teenage children and I took a surf lesson from Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy. None of us had ever surfed before, so we were a bit apprehensive and a little nervous about the whole experience. Our surf instructor, Dan, was just awesome. He was super nice and very encouraging. All of us got up and rode a wave on... More

Our group (5 people all together) was led by Tavner who made our lesson fun with lots of time to surf and great instructions. We all got up on our surf boards and rode the waves! Tavner is very cool and a superb instructor who gave individual instruction to address each person's need/questions/etc. Since my son took to surfing so... More

We booked a surf lesson for myself, 12 and 8 year old. The shop was easy to find, the parking right across the road, the staff super friendly and helpful and the whole morning a great success. They came through on their promise of getting everyone standing up too! The instructors were lovely with the rather cautious 8 year old... More

This experience was phenomenal, I've never surfed before and now I can catch a wave and ride it to shore. Thanks to our main man Kalani for teaching us the ropes. He's a fantastic instructor and I highly recommend him

Josh and Kea were the instructors for our group of 8 surfers--1 adult, 7 kids (ages 6 to 17)! Not only did everyone stand up and ride several waves, they were cautious, fun, exciting and made the afternoon a memorable experience. Most of our kids were 6 and 7 years of age--and they loved it! They were nervous at first,... More

Our family had a great time in Maui, but the two mornings that we spent with the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy were most memorable. The location is perfect in central old town Lahaina, free parking is right across the street, and just a short walk to the beach. The staff is super friendly, positive and encouraging. The equipment was good... More
