Our 4 kids (18, 16, 13 and 10) had their first ever surf lessons with Kea in Lahaina. He was a great instructor-fun, friendly and knowledgeable. They loved every second of their experience and said it was one of the highlights of our Maui vacation. Highly recommend!!

Lahina is way more crowded because there are so many surf schools on one beach. We had one private and two semi private (3 people) lessons. Nicer, more helpful instructors could not be found. What a treat! They provide everything. The 5 people who had never surfed all got up on their boards...severly times

My daughters (12 & 7) both took lessons last week from Mike @ RHSA. They could not have had a better experience and from my perspective they could not have gotten a better foundation for surfing. They walked away happy, excited, and eager for more. Mike was an excellent teacher and the whole experience was a positive.

I took first-time surfing lessons at the Kaanapali Beach location. Their shop is in front of the Marriott resort and it felt as if the instructors were more interested in getting the next groups through the process rather than concentrating on what was in front of them. As a result, of all the activities I participated in on Maui and... More

We tried surfing for the first time last Monday! We were all a little nervous about what was going to happen since we never have tried surfing. The experience exceeded our expectations. Dreyson and his brother Kaimana were both excellent - gave great directions, were extremely patient and both had positive attitudes. They seemed genuinely happy when we were able... More

My two granddaughters (12 & 15) took surfing lessons from Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy and another surf school on another day. They said there was no comparison and they liked Royal the best. They especially liked their instructor, Josh, who was very passionate about surfing and gave them the best instruction and most help. This was a group lesson and... More

The Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy is an excellent place place to learn to surf and stand up paddle. My family and I took lessons from their very professional instructors and saw immediate success. My kids and I have made this school a regular stop in our last three trips to Maui. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who... More

Bought a surf lesson for my 17 year old son as part of our recent Maui vacation. After doing some online reseach to find a good place, Royal Hawaiian seemed to be the choice. My son had a great time and was riding waves like a boss right from the start. Tavner was his instructor and, in addition to being... More

We had the pleasure of trying stand up paddling for the first time while vacationing at the Hyatt Regency Maui at Kaanapali. Our instructor, Blaise Smith, was outstanding in every respect. He's a natural when it comes to teaching and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Blaise put us at ease right from the start and was so... More

I purchased a semi-group lesson for my two teen boys. Taylor was their instructor and he was so great with them. He was able to teach them to ride the first wave they caught! He was attentive, patient, and nice. Lucas was great with assisting us as well. Luana was awesome...she took the photos. I purchased them and dummy me... More
