My neices took a private lessons here. They are 5 and 8 years old. The instructor Josh was great. He was patient and made the lesson fun for the girls. They were able to stand on their board. Yay! Best of all they had big smile on their faces during and after the lesson. Thank you Josh for making such... More

Did my first surf lesson ever with Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy it was great. Signed up for an early morning group lesson, as it turned out I was the only person signed up so basically I scored a private lesson for the group price. Kea was my instrictor he was very good, and had me riding waves in no time.... More

Thanks to Taverner and staff for making an unforgettable morning for myself and my 7 year old son. He was able to get us up and surfing right away. He almost busted his nose during the lesson and still completed the full lesson even though he was bleeding profusely. If you want the real deal maui grown surf training, book... More

My son and I signed up for surf lessons through the Westin Ka'anapali in Maui. Having never surfed we needed a good guide to get us started. We met Dan (our instructor) and the rest of the crew when we arrived and they made us feel like one of the family. We paired up with a couple from Switzerland, also inexperienced.... More

Great time, small group and Ikaika was the perfect instructor. He is patient, kind, funny, encouraging and will basically do everything in his power to have you surfing! I think after he gives you a gentle nudge, he has a secret mantra that enables EVERYONE to be a surfer! The photographer will magically get great shots of you surfing and... More

My daughter wanted surf lessons and she was a bit scared and unsure. Well, after her wonderful experience at Royal Hawaiian she wants to buy a surfboard. Tavner was extremely helpful and positive. He went above and beyond for her and the other students in the class. He made it a fun and positive experience. I would highly recommend using... More

Nice people and great experience! Our main wish would have been to be able to tack on another hour or so. It seemed like just about the time we we're getting the hang of it, the lesson was over. We would have definitely shelled out some more $$ to get to continue to surf.

Our family of 4 took a private group lesson with Ikaika last month and had the best time. Looking back on our Hawaii vacation, this was definitely one of our most memorable experiences. Ikaika was perfect for adults and kids (ages 14 & 9) & had us all standing by our first or second wave. I definitely recommend going earlier... More

We are 2 friends travelling from France and one of our challenge in Hawaii was to have surf initiation lessons. We have chosen the royal hawaiian surf academy after having seen an advertisement in an appartment we rented... And frankly we were not upset!! First day we had Kea as instructor. I did succeed with him quite quickly in the... More
