Soft sand, wide beach, gentle waves. This beach is great for families. Not so great for snorkeling however when we were there.

We love this beach! The waves are pretty consistent for good boogie boarding. It gets busy and there isn't really any good parking around except down at Kamaole III.

Nice flat swim beach with life guards. Lots of turtles while snorkeling by the rocks. Safe for families and people just learning to snorkel.

This beach is centrally located and the waves are usually pretty gentle. A great place for a late night stroll too, very romantic.

We have visited many of the Maui beaches and this is a favourite. Lovely fine golden sandy beach with gradual entry into water. Great snorkeling along the south side lava flow (including turtles!). Snorkeling was comparable and better than other south and west Maui beaches including the Coral Gardens. Snorkeling was usually best in the morning as wind can pick... More

Nice beach right across the street from our hotel. The waves are not too bad but some can be big enough to body surf/wake board. Can get quite busy.

Wasn't crowded, medium sized waves and sea turtles. Good snorkeling close to the rocks on the south side.

This was a great beach, and because we stayed at Kihei Kai Nani, across from the beach we frequented it. It is a great place to relax, and is a good place for beginners to body-board. the Reef at the south end is a good place to snorkel if you are a beginner. It sunsets are beautiful to watch here.... Wow! What an amazing beach. Make sure you stop here on your visit to Maui. Watching the sunset here is also amazing.

It helps to bring a beach chair to sit in, otherwise you are putting your towel down on the sand. The surf is rough and pulls you around, so can move you against some sharp lava rocks, so water shoes are a good idea if you have them.
