I had to review this as a lot of the reviews I read before deciding whether to take this journey to Hana scared the crap out of me. Let me first say that I can have some pretty intense anxiety and I am also currently pregnant. Oh, and I'm also afraid of heights. That being said, this day trip was... More

We LOVED our trip on the Road to Hana. Go to the app store and invest in the Road to Hana App...it's a guided audio tour that highlights where to stop (and where not to bother.) There's little to no cell service along the road, but the GPS works and this app was invaluable...we would've missed some awesome stops if... More

If you go to Maui, you have to drive the road to Hana. It's absolutely gorgeous and you'll always remember it.

This drive although long and a windy road was filled with tremendous beauty and lush scenery. I recommend this drive to anyone going to Maui! Don't forget to go visit the Red Sand Beach as well!

I want to start out by saying it was not what I expected. This was my first trip on the Road to Hana and like a lot of people told me to, we rented a convertible. Perhaps I should have done a lot more research on the entire experience. I had originally thought the Road to Hana was a means... More

The drive to Hana from Paia takes 2-3 hours if you don't stop much, in broad daylight. As others have said, the road is quite narrow at sections (though not as bad as the northern loop of Maui, which we did earlier that day). There are some points with great waterfalls but there were very few areas to safely pull... More

The road to Hana is narrow in places with 1 lane bridges and sharp curves, but the view is breathtaking. There are many, many roadside stands offering fresh produce and food for sale. The road *does* continue after Hana, but it becomes even more narrow and curvy, often dropping down to 1 lane and there are sections that are unpaved... More

Definitely take medicine if you get car sick. Definitely recommending buying or downloading the CD guide. We followed most of it and had a blast. Definitely worth it to do the difficult climb to get up close to the three bear falls and jump in. Don't recommend swimming in black sand beach, sand is rocky and rough on your feet.... More

Completely worth driving through it! Lots of places to visit. Excellent ocean views along the way. Those mile marker attractions are exactly as they're described. Make sure you have the person who is more prone to motion sickness do the driving!!

What an interesting day we had taking this beautiful scenic drive. The 42 mile road is literally carved into the side of the island in many spots so you really need to be careful. It is a two lane road but many parts of the road are very winding with lots of twists, turns and one lane bridges. If you... More
