There is so much to see, it helps if you have planned the day in advance. There are many apps which can assist in that. Great scenery, every turn I felt like clicking more pictures! There are enough food and drinks stalls roadside - don't miss out on shaved ice. The highlight for us was Waianapanapa State Park, lovely black... More

Be sure to buy a Road to Hana CD, very helpful. We've taken the Road to Hana trip on three different vacations to Maui. Never can get enough of the wonder and beauty on this road trip. Waterfalls, more waterfalls, panoramic ocean views, floral and fauna, majestic mountain views, mesmerizing big surf crashing on the lava rock at Keanae Bay...amazing!... More

We drove from Paia and relaxed in many (but not all) stops, mainly including beaches (make sure you have GPS), falls and a couple of trails. It is an amazing road, like driving in the jungle and enjoying superb views, just relax and take your time.

Fourth time we did Road to Hana. Really enjoy the beauty of it. As guidebook says, get thru Kahalui by 8 am earlier if u can and have less chance of congestion on road. There is a nice stop at Keanae peninsula. Beautiful rocky shoreline with crashing waves and public restrooms at park. Aunty Sandys Banana Bread is worth stopping... More

If you're visiting Maui, the Road to Hana is a neat trip to take. It has views that are breathtaking and one of a kind. Great photo ops! If you do this trip, there are not many opportunities for restroom breaks, so keep that in mind. You will find a few roadside shops to buy refreshments and homemade snacks, but... More

There is so much to see on this drive to Hana. My husband and I bought a Road to Hana CD prior to arriving in Maui. I definitely recommend getting one because unless you want to have your head in a book the whole time it was nice to have a talking guide pointing out upcoming points of interests, best... More

Wow did we hate this drive! We have driven Kauai, Oahu, Big Island and this was our least favorite. The 600 turns and 60 bridges alone are not fun ( I had a fun mustang to drive too)! Add the small waterfalls, lack of viewing to the coast, and locals trying to run you off the road, and it is... More

Fascinating trip with amazing views. Not for the faint of heart or impatient drivers. Leave plenty of time to take pictures or explore bamboo forests, waterfalls and beaches.

This adventure could take an hour or two days. It depends how often you want to stop and smell the roses, or see some of the most breath taking views and sights. So many treasures along the way. The drive can be a bit treacherous. Not for the faint at heart. Single lane and blind curves. Steep inclines and declines.

It was beautiful, sunny and dry day. Drive was great fun. As somebody said, it is about the journey not the destination. It fits here. Hana is typical plantation town. Nothing to write home about except costly and medicore restaurants. just ok beach. Maybe due to dry few days, falls were also just so so. We however enjoyed the drive.... More
