The Road to Hana has been a widely advertised attraction on Maui for years for its beautiful ocean vistas and dramatic waterfalls. What's not emphasized is the shear tropical beauty of every mile you travel. The intense green of the jungle, brilliant blooms at every turn and continuous aroma of ginger in the air are alone worth the trek. Now... More

We had to turn around half-way there ... Just couldn't drive any further. Maybe it's better if you take a tour ... Though I can't magi be how. So good luck if you attempt this.

This trip was great if you have a full day set aside to take it and the patience to find the little treasures along the way. You will be in the care for hours on end so maybe not the best for small children, especially if you really want to experience it to the fullest, which includes some slightly treacherous... More

We were not going to drive the Road to Hana until we were on the Summit of Halekala and discovered we could not get to the Pipewai Trail. This was a fun/interesting drive full of twists and turns and one way bridges. We googles some popular stops, but did not stop at every stop. If you have the time drive the... More

It's not that long of a road but due to the slow speeds and places to stop it will take you a full day. If you're in Maui you have to experience this, if for no other reason than to justify buying the t-shirt that reads "I survived the Road to Hana". The road is very narrow with hair-pin turns... We had purchased an app for our phone with an "audio tour" (Road to Hand GyPSy Drive Tour) and found it really interesting and useful. Gorgeous drive, with lots of beautiful locations to stop at; just allow plenty of time and make sure you don't drive this when it's dark! Our only complaint would be that each "scenic" stop was... We traveled the Road to Hana, which is supposed to be filled with amazing views and tons of waterfalls, but found it lacking. The waterfalls are either very difficult to get to (one required a 10 mile hike and 100 yard swim) or they're very disappointing. I don't know how many we missed from the guide book because they were... More

This is a great way to see the sights out of Maui. Really enjoyed this trip with lots of stops/photo opportunities along the way. Swim under a waterfall, swim at gorgeous, pretty much deserted beaches! This tour included a free breakfast at Subway and a lovely cooked meal for lunch. If you are prone to travel sickness I would recommend... More

First let me say that I had the pleasure of having my own personal tour guide; my husband lived in Maui for 15+ years 20 years ago. He knew what a gem this was... Second, when I write my reviews, I always start with the Con's: then end on a good note with the Pro's. Cons: yes, we did run... More

There are so many pull-offs on this road that you could spend an entire day getting to Hana. When you drive by the Nahiku Marketplace do yourself a favor and skip the place that says "Island Style Tacos" - there is nothing good about them- just YUCK. You might catch some locals hanging out and grilling at turn-offs and jumping... More
