We loved the road to Hana drive! My husband and I drove this ourselves, and had such a fun and adventurous day! We downloaded the gypsy app which was key to enjoying the drive! There are so many places to stop and sightsee, swim, take photos and eat, it would have been overwhelming without the app. If you choose to... More

Start out early. Drive carefully, can be quite tricky at times. This was our 2nd time around. We had to bring our teens along to see it. They loved it. Take plenty of time to take in all the wonderful views. Make sure to stop at (MM17) Keanae Peninsula (see pic below). There is a side road you take down... More

I really don't see how this is claimed as such an attraction. Too many people, the road is nit equipped for the amount if traffic that we encountered. At some so called sights there was barely enough parking for one car! We only got up the marker 13 and made the easy decision to turn back. Don't waste your days... More

Everyone told us to do the road to hana so we did. We wished we didn't listen to them. This is a 12 hour tour. You leave at 6:30 am and return at 6:30 pm. Yes, you do see a black sand beach and a few waterfalls but you have to spend 9 hours in the car to do maybe... More

Not for the faint of heart. I'm not so I loved it just like the title says was like riding a rollercoaster in a car!! The sights are breathtaking with waterfalls, black beaches, cow and horse ranches, the trees and foliage just beautiful.

I was at the starting point of the road to Hana at 7am on a sunny day, and was mostly alone, which was great. I could drive at the speed i wanted, stop and park anywhere, nobody.., so this was safe and fun. I took pictures and visits the sights along the way with barely any other people around, always... Four of us travelled across Maui to link up with the Road to Hana. The scenery was spectacular as were the beaches in varying colours of sand. The fact we travelled through rain forests meant we were going to be rained on and we did.

If you're looking at making the journey to Hana, make sure to plan ahead. Will take at least 7 hours. The most important thing that I'd do some research on would be the weather. On the day I went, it was mostly rainy, and the rest of the day was overcast. Road conditions are usually very dangerous; our car was... More

Many make the mistake of traveling this via tour bus. I would NOT recommend this. We leaped frog several tour buses and were shocked when we saw them skip some of the most beautiful waterfalls along the way. If you do choose to drive yourself, it is so nice to be able to enjoy the sights and hidden waterfalls at... More

Road to Hana - good scenery most of the time. Tour Guide, Lehua was terrible. She kept repeating things over and over. After our first "designated" stop, she made us feel that if we didn't hurry we would not make any further stops. We even had to double back because she could not tell time. Lunch buffet at one of...
