We took the entire day to travel the road to Hana. Stopped to take pictures and visit a botanical garden as well.

Make sure you set aside a day to make this drive. Things to know: Start out as early as possible. You will thank yourself later in the day, especially if you choose to drive all the way around the island (instead of back tracking). Stop for gas and cash and Kahului. Gas is super cheap at costco and you will... More

The trip was about 3 hours drive to get to the black beach. The views are beautiful with many waterfalls along the way. The Garden of Eden is a must see attraction you can stop along the way. You can stop along the the way to take pictures and even get in the waterfalls if you want. Make sure you... More

Plus: This place is amazing. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Spectacular breath taking views, best banana bread half way through the drive (Aunty Sandy's) and to be honest with you, the black sand beach was worth the trip. Minus: after a while the winding roads not only get repetitive and if you are a person who... More

I really cannot explain in words how beautiful this drive is. I would recommend driving Beyond Hana and completing the loop. You have to be there to believe it.

This road is unbelievably scary at times. There are many signs that instruct you to yield to oncoming traffic, but there is no way you can see if there is any oncoming traffic. Quite a few hairpin turns, and signs that indicate a "falling rock" area which cause you to realize that if a huge rock did fall, you are... More

The Road to Hana is an intense and rewarding experience. We devoted the entire day to it and really only scratched the surface. I look forward to returning one day now that I know what to expect! The Road is gorgeous, lush, and tropical, with numerous bridges, hairpin turns, and waterfalls. There are many resources out there to help you... More
