It is actually the road with its various stop, walk and discover options that makes this trip so interesting. Leave early to give you enough time to explore the hidden treasures, beautiful nature and beaches on its way.

Drove the famous Road to Hana today (and beyond) - left at 9:00 a.m. and didn't get back until after 5:00 p.m. Was so tired from the drive that it put a damper on the memories of all the beautiful nature we saw. Here's a great tip for you: Go as far as Waianapanapa (mile marker 32) and turn back... More

The road to Hana is a lovely drive but there is only one public wash room all the way there so make sure you go before you leave your hotel or condo. Also, if you are inclined to motion sickness, take some pills or ginger candy - whatever works for you - as the road winds so much it is... More

I took the Road to Hana with a friend on a recent visit to Maui. If you decide to make the trip, there are a few things you should know: First, if you are prone to motion sickness you should either be the driver or take some motion sickness medication as a passenger. Second, there aren't a lot of places... More

This was my second drive to Hana and streams and waterfalls were much drier than my previous trip. I didn't stop at Twin Falls way too many tourists. There are a number of other pools and falls on the way. Ask a local if you can, to discover a few hidden gems. Once in Hana skip the Hana Harbor beach... More

I cannot in good conscience rate this a 5 when we all got queasy, but Yes we would all do it again. We had morning plans, so didn't start until 11am, but we got to Hana by 3pm so safely back by sunset. With the switchbacks and multiple 1-lane features, I would avoid night driving. An advantage of our later... More

This has to be the most beautiful ride that you will ever have" the sights were beautiful. Some of the great water falls each mile was beautiful. The ride was so great . Just take some snacks because the ride is not ruined by all having all sorts of buildings. We stopped at the end of the ride at the... More

Did this drive fairly early on a weekday morning, traffic wasn't too bad. The locals in trucks, though... yikes. Scenery was beautiful but I wish there had been a few more places to pull over and stop. We made it to Hana and continued on all the way around the island (had a Jeep), that was a beautiful drive too.... More

I love Maui-I love the rainforest and coastline that the road to Hana covers. However, as an experienced and confident driver this is really quite a tiring drive to take. Not one for the kids. But I think I can make it sound magical to friends and colleagues thanks to the 'growling' Chevy Camaro I rented...makes for good photos.

We left our condo in Kapalua at 8:00 and returned at 6:00. We stopped to see some of the suggested sites (Twin-Falls, the banana nut bread stands and much more). Occasionally a little hike and a picnic broke up the day. It was some of the most beautiful scenery ever. Lush rain forest, moon landscape and cattle ranches, most bordered... More
