Everything you read about this road is true!! We loved it and plan to do it again the next time in Maui. Do go slow as warned and pull over for the locals. Honk horns around some corners. A fantastic drive...

We left at 6:30 in the morning, drove the entire way around the island and were back by 3 p.m. including a stop for lunch and a short visit to LIndbergh's grave and several beaches.

I went to Maui twice and I took the road trip to Hana twice. It was totally different on the two occasions and both times totally worth doing it. The first time it was one of the rainiest days I have ever seen. There were not much other cars driving that road this day and you couldn´t access many of... More

I'm not a decent driver that I only drove 4k miles prior to the drive. But my hubby even couldn't drive so I have to settle! The drive shouldn't be tough to us coming from the less developed countries, since much worse roads lay in our countries. But you have to pay full attention, while take a little time to... More

If you're in Maui, you have to do the road to Hana. Make sure to take plenty of stops to take in the amazing views and waterfall paths just off the roadway.

On the particular day we had schedule to drive the road to hana, my aunt who lives in Maui was able to take us to make sure we got the most out of the drive. When we got on the road, it was raining.. Which im sure helped us to have no traffic. I would recommend leaving early because it's... More

My husband and I really enjoyed the trip to and past Hana. We started our day at 3:30AM leaving Kapalua to make our way up Haleakala for sunrise. Following sunrise we made our way back down to Paia. We stopped in Paia to gas up and enjoy breakfast at Anthony's Coffee Company. The food was good and the coffee delicious.... More

We did the Road to Hana on our own and on mopeds. Definitely stop at mile 6.5 and go through the bamboo forest to the waterfall. Also, mile 19.5 as a great waterfall. We only went to mile 24, but it was well worth the drive. Also, eat at Halfway to Hana. This road is paved! Don't let people fool... More

If you want a faster/better drive with scenic views and switchback roads. drive the northwest corner of the island. My husband and I were thoroughly unimpressed with the road to Hana. Our last trip to Hawaii we went to Kauai and hiked the Kalulau Trail to the waterfall which was amazing, will be pretty hard to top those views and... More
