Did it once but never again lol. Exactly as they say with the narrow curves, twists and turns. My husband insisted on driving it and I swear I put dents in the door handle I was gripping it so tight. There were some spectacular views I must say. Just past Hana was a beautiful little area with some nice springs,... More

My husband and I had rented a jeep for our week on Maui and it was definitely a great idea. We drove the Road to Hana starting in Paia and made our way to 37 (Kula Hwy) with a short but must do right turn down Omaopio Rd which leads right to the Surfing Goat Dairy. The Surfing Goat Dairy... More

I've done the road to Hana twice. The first time was with my husband and we didn't quite get there. It was January and we were afraid we couldn't navigate the curves after dark, so we headed home early. This February I went back on a van tour recommended by the concierge at my hotel. The negatives: a so so... More

Did just over 50% of the drive. So happy I didn't book an overpriced tour as driving it is totally safe and fine. Nice paved road and although narrow it is fine. Not sure what all the fuss is about with the driving. Driving the North Loop Coastline was way more challenging. The bamboo forest is amazing and worth stopping... More

This is a great way to see the varied landscape of Maui. We used the Maui Revealed guidebook, which told us to do the full circle, not turn around in Hana and I'm so glad we did. The terrain past Hana is so much different! I know some people are worried their car won't make it but we had a... More

Tip......don't drive this. Spend the money to take a tour in a van. You will benefit for the excellent knowledge of the tour guide. Pu was our tour guide from valley isle excursions. She has a wonderful and relaxing presentation. She will share her stories of her native land. Breakfast was juice and coffee and pasties and muffins. Lunch was... More

There are some spectacular views. The bamboo forest was exquisite and I enjoyed a few little stops, snacks and activities along the way. Everything gets suuuper expensive so stock up before you leave. Don't drink gigantic coffees because bathrooms become scarce and sketchy. Take a gravol if you are susceptible for nausea. DO NOT drive it if you are a... More

When you are in Maui, you must take a day and experience the road to Hana. You will see scenery otherwise not seen by those that choose not to go. Well worth the time required.

I'm told that I have been lucky weather-wise on the Road to Hana, since although it rains there often I did not have that to contend with. Consequently, I was able to experience this beautiful location in all its glory. Lots of awesome views of ocean, waterfalls, flora...etc. There are a number of places to eat along the way, from... My wife and I went on this excursion as were told by many people who have been to Hawaii that we should definitely take "the road to Hana journey" when we visit Maui. We were also told by some of our friends that Valley Isle Excursions is the best tour company for this trip. It is $121.99 per person. This... More
