This road is very windy and the roadnarrow so the the drive is a slow and quite stressful one. But for the lucky passengers the scenery is great and really diverse. Take water and food as there aren't many place to pick up food if you get hungry. The Gulch at the end and the pools are worth visiting.

We purchased a cd from the ther2h.com for our guide. It was a huge help that included many stops along this one way road that were not visible and not posted. This experience included black sand beaches, caves, waterfalls and breathtaking views.

Best drive ever. prepare yourself, start early and suggest to ride a suv.. Pack your food and water..Also eat light.. there are almost 500 left right turns.. So many places/waterfalls to see in between.. Must do if you are in Maui.

Now I’m always up for a white knuckled drive with lots of curves, hills, amazing vistas, & drops, but this drive sucks. If you want hours upon hours of curve after curve following a very long line of cars for mile after mile with few ocean vistas and even fewer pull offs (and almost not rest rooms), then this drive... The drive is spectacular, however, I got motion sickness so bad I barely could enjoy the rest of my visit there. Take a dramimine! I don't get motion sickness at all, but the twists and turns (maybe it was the driver) got to me.

The t-shirt says it all: Turn left then turn right. Repeat 617 times. Amazing views and scenery. There are sufficient small parks to stop for restroom breaks. We packed a small cooler with water and some snacks. That was a good idea. An employee at the hotel my friend s were staying at circled places to stop and added some... More

Self drive in a Chev Camaro convertible. I read many reviews on RTH and was almost scared away. Best activity in Maui. Amazing scenery, GYPSY app download was awesome with detailed fun information. Really helped to relax and ensure we didn't drive past the major stuff. The drive itself is so much fun but the locations on the way are... More

My family wasn't thrilled about being in a car all day. It took a little convincing. We left Kihei, Maui at 06:00 and were done the travelling and eating a snack at Paia around 2pm. We all took car sickness pills and glad we did. It's a very twisty road with lots of stopping and going. It would be easy... More

So this drive is as gorgeous as they say. And it is also as curvy as they say. I definitely wouldn't pay for a tour though as the only problems we encountered were too many people at several of the stops and if you are on a tour, you can't get away from them! We purchased the Road to Hana... More

My disclaimer: I'm a dyed in the wool car guy who lives for twisty, winding roads with amazing scenery. This road to Hana is like a concentrated pill of road nirvana. The road is narrow, winding, cuts through incredible natural vistas and little stops like nothing I've ever driven before. Of course I did this not in a low sling... More
