I was so happy that I visited this place on our day trip to Lanai. From all the other reviews I knew is was a place that we must visit. When we pulled up a cat walked up to our car with a mouse in its mouth. It followed us to the entrance and went in the enclosure. The set... More

My husband and I visited the LARC today before leaving Lanai (it is located very close to the Lanai airport). It was a dream come true. If you are an animal lover, especially a cat lover, you will be in heaven. The facility is open between 11 and 3 for "Purr Time" and you can just sit around and have... More

We recently travelled to Maui and spent part of a day visiting the Lanai Animal Rescue Centre. They have 400 cats! We had waited a whole year to visit them and it was well worth the wait. We were met at the door by some very enthusiastic kitties. The majority of the kitties loved the attention and especially loved the... More

My wife had been wanting to visit this place since our last trip to Maui four years ago. Its a bit of an adventure to get to, but well worth the planning. Take the ferry over, and have Rabaca's Lanai City Shuttle take you directly there for $10! We spent three wonderful hours brushing and petting the hundreds of cats... More

The last thing I thought I would be doing on my Hawaiian vacation was visiting a cat sanctuary, but I did and it was one of the coolest parts of our trip! This habitat is so amazing and a truly fun experience. I loved all the little areas for the cats for sleeping, eating and playing. They loved having visitors... More

I found out about Lanai Animal Rescue Center a few years ago when I saw their "Hawaiian Lions" video on YouTube. After seeing all the happy question mark tails, I knew I wanted to visit someday. Well, someday came in the form of my honeymoon, and the sanctuary was exactly as I had expected. It's a place where kitties live... More

This place is phenomenal and the work that Kathy and her colleagues are doing for the Lanai cat population is amazing! My 11 year old son and I visited here recently and it is an experience that we will both keep in our memories forever. Great place to visit and play with the cats or to adopt a cat. Highly... More

When endangered ground nesting bird populations were identified on Lana'i, it became painfully obvious that the feral cat population had to be addressed. Eradicating the cats was one option that was unacceptable to Kathy Carroll, a Lana'i resident. Kathy organized an effort to create a cat sanctuary. On 3 leased acres a short distance outside of town, using repurposed building... More

This place is amazing and the work that Kathy and the staff are doing is inspirational. The resident cats are healthy, happy and the sanctuary is a wonderful place to visit. If you're inclined to pet or play with the cats they would love it and it helps to socialize them for possible adoption. A special highpoint of my visit... More

I loved this place! Imagine 400 healthy, inquisitive, happy cats living in harmony. The place is filled with clever and natural get-a-ways to give each cat their own place when they've had enough communal living. Imagine no odor, no fights . . . This is the most perfect kitty kommune and a wonderful place to pick your next cat(s). It's... More
