Wow, words cannot explain the beauty of this place! The range of colors is unbelievable! try to rent a 4 wheeler for the day if planning on going. Then you can get down to the beaches where you will be the ONLY people around! This was our best day in Hawaii! Ask the person at the ferry booth for the... More

Neat rock formations and colors. Great views. On the way to awesome beach so worth it for that alone.

Appears to be just a ton of rocks. Requires an extremely bumpy and dusty ride. No clear signage to get there so it can be a bit confusing. If you go the right way you will eventually arrive at a sign for the Garden of the Gods. We drove a bit further and began an extremely uneven descent but decided... More

After a bumpy dusty ride we saw the sign, drove a bit more and actually asked someone else if this was it or there was something else further along. Unfortunately this was all. The garden is a reddish landscape with rocks scattered throughout. Yes, a bit like a Mars scape - but nothing compared to Haleakala crater vistas for example.... More

we went there twice. Just loved this unique and almost magical place. It's like a lunar landscape up there with amazing rock formations and terrific views down to the ocean and across to the close by islands. It tends to be quite windy up there but we found that very inviting. We could have stayed there forever to enjoy the... More

I was expecting more but it is just lots of rocks. A neat view to the ocean and I took lots of photos. It is windy up there. The rental car agency said the road past the garden is bumpy -- "bumpy" does not describe it. It is so rocky, jerky, pot holy, that bumpy is an understatement. Have fun!

Off road but not difficult to reach with a jeep. Be careful to watch for signage. Jeep rental will give you written directions and expected times to and from. The main attraction for me was the sunsets - beautiful. Driving after sunset has its challenges- drive slowly and carefully.

If you like off road driving, then you will love this place. The drive was just a fun as the exploring and sightseeing. Definitely has a Mars like appearance and is quite unique. Allow at least 3 to 4 hours round trip from town. If you want to stray from the main road, bring your breadcrumbs. If you have a... More

What a interesting place. We felt like we were on Mars. Wear dark clothing. White turns red in a hot minute. Also bring cloth to wipe down camera.
