gorgeous drive up to the view points of the canyon

between the Vog as the Hawaiians call it this canyon is INCREDIBLE! we charter a boat (Blue Dolphin) to be able to see the canyon a little more clearly and it worked out perfect.

On our cruise to Hawaii we booked a tour to the Waimea Canyon and waterfalls with Roberts Hawaii Tours. They were very extremely helpful and the driver was fantastic, giving us a history of this Canyon and pointing out other things of interest. The cost of this tour was half of what the cruise ships charge and I would highly... More

We drove up to the end and stopped at all view points along the way. Gorgeous. Wish we had time to hike. Highly recommend.

There are two ways to see the canyon, from the ground and from the air. On the ground, the various lookout points offer incredible views, providing it's a clear day, otherwise you'll be stuck in the clouds. The view from the air is spectacular (again, weather permitting), a round island trip will take you to the canyon en route to... More

It is an 11 mile trip up to the lookout, but you will be rewarded with some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. The day we were there, two Hawaiians were at the lookout talking story and playing music. It just added to the experience.

Great spot for hiking with lots of spectacular vistas, including views of the Napali Coast. The Pihea is highly recommended. The best views are at the Kalalau Lookout, near the end of the road.

My husband has been to the Grand Canyon and said this was just as spectacular. We stopped at two lookout points for lots of photos, but the highlight was the 2 hour hike we took into the canyon to a waterfall and back. It would be a great spot for a picnic. Park near the sign to Koke'e State Park,... More

This really is the second Grand Canyon. The different climates and scenery are amazing. It's quite a drive, but worth it. You weave your way through winding roads up towards the top, with overlooks along the way. There are restrooms to stop at periodically and a restaurant at the picnic area.

Definitely a must see while staying in Kauai. We also highly recommend driving all the way to Kokee State Park to the Kalalau Look Out Point. Unfortunately for us... it was a white out. We couldn't hike Waimea Canyon either because the trails were closed due to heavy rain. Bummer. But that gives us another reason to come back!

We were actually thinking of skipping the drive to canyon after the helicopter ride over canyon, but i am so glad we did it anyways... because the view was really amazing by car too. It got really cold at the view point, so i would advice you to take jacket along. I have motion sickness.. and i did start feeling... More
