Absolutely worth the drive. It is a little out of the way but not very far. The sun shining down through the different valleys were spectacular. Never thought I would see anything like it in Hawaii.

This is a very beautiful 18-20 mile drive from the town of Waimea to the Puu o Kila lookout. We were fortunate to do this trip on a sunny day and the climate at Waimea is more desert like and after gaining around 4500 feet elevation you are in a much cooler and forested area. The road winds and pay... More

This is a neat drive punctuated with stops for amazing views. Go ahead and follow the road all the way to the end and stop at each look out -- they were all amazing. There were also some exciting looking trails to follow. We wished we knew in advance and had been prepared with water and footwear to try one.... More

This is a beautiful drive. I recommend making this a to do on your list. Breathtaking views, plush greenery, brightly colored flowers, winding roads. This is truly the Grand Canyon of Kauai. Wear some good shoes in case you pull over and take a little hike.

A must see on the island. It is very beautiful and a Farley quick trip up the canyon. Stop T all the lookouts as there is a photo opportunity at each one.

You definitely need good weather to enjoy the grandioso vistas of Waimea Canyon. We drove to the final lookout first and visied the lower stops on the return journey.

Waimea canyon is a must see as far as I'm concerned. I've been to the Grand Canyon twice recently so wasn't too optimistic but boy was I surprised! It is so different. Very green and lush and Waipoo falls are beautiful even from far away. Take your time driving after you leave the first outlook as there are some great... More

A short hike up some stairs reveals a beautiful view of the canyon. In the parking lot, a vendor was selling fresh fruit. The pineapple was delicious!
