I had the feeling that many people don't bother taking the drive to this landmark. The overlook of the canyon had amazing views, including the waterfall. The views really were stunning, and a picture just couldn't capture it. The drive up/ down was not stressful for people who are nervous about "mountain" switchbacks (there weren't any). I was driving, but... More

We visited this site, on the way we were able to stop at different lookouts but when we got to the top, we were in the clouds. We were not able to see the canyon :(. A bit of a dissapontment after all the traveling through the winding road. So if you're gonna visit this site, try go early to... More

Southwest Kauai has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It also has a road leading to the Grand Canyon of the Pacific ... Waimea Canyon. Spectacular views, hiking, camping and great photographic opportunities. Well worth the time and effort.

It is beautiful stop and enjoy the scenery all the way there. I've seen the real Grand Canyon and this one. This one has so much color and richness I like it better. A definite must see next to the Napali coast line

This is a must see. On the drive up, there are many scenic overlooks to stop and take pictures. It is just beautiful. Once at the top, there is a stand selling local fruit, veggies, dried products, water. We tried the dried coconut and apple bananna, which were both yummy. It is called the grand Canyon of the pacific and... More

Absolutely stunning beauty. Truly the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Be sure to follow the drive to the very end. The second to last parking lot seems like the end but keep driving for more views. Also go very early. We started the drive up the Canyon at 7:30am. By 10am the drive had clouds.

We stopped many times driving up to Waimea Canyon. Each locale more magnificent than the last. If you visit Kaua'i, don't miss it! I loved the locals selling their goods. My daughters couldn't pass up the exotic treats. Wish we were hikers....

Our visit to Waimea Canyon was possible via Polynesia Adventures tour. We had a savvy driver named Jack, truly knowledgeable and sociable. I would highly recommend booking this trip with them ~ mainly for fun, entertainment and most of all, inside information on Kauai's urban legend. Waimea Canyon is more than what we expected ~ amazingly spectacular!

This is the 2nd year in a row we have visited Kauai. We had to repeat this great area. The family loves the hike to the falls in the canyon. Even the 6 year old gets excited! The views are stunning!! A must do!!
