We visited the canyon during our recent Kauai trip. We absolutely loved the Waimea Canyon. I was amazed at how beautiful it is. Definitely recommend!

A very nice canyon. Competes well with the Grand Canyon or the Canadian country side in Alberta. Arrive there early to beat the crowds. Good facilities in the park, vendors present, a fair bit of parking is available for free.

We hiked two days in Waimea. We first did the Pihea trail from the end of the road. Great views throughout the hike, and everyone enjoyed getting a little muddy. The second day, a smaller group of us decided to hike to the alakai swamp. This trail is off of the Pihea trail head, and is a little more challenging.... More

We stayed on the north side of the island, but left early one morning to go to Waimea Canyon before we went on a dinner cruise later that evening. The canyon is just breathtaking from all sides. So many places to stop off for photos and you need to go all the way to the end of the road to... More

As much as I travel and read up on places around the world, I'd never heard of Waimea Canyon. It's one of the most amazing places I've ever seen. Pictures doesn't do this natural wonder any justice.

Beautiful landscape with lots of hiking trails available. Next time I will be prepared to hike. Get there early but be prepared with the right apparel and gear. Not into hiking? Don't miss out on this drive and the great lookouts for pictures.

it's a great trip. The best part is the unmarked waterfall at mile 13 on Waimea Canyon Road. Take that road on your way up, don't follow the signs into town.

A little drive up into the hills but well worth the time. Best to get there in the earlier time of day (pre 10 AM) to avoid the throngs of cars/people. Once done keep driving into the next park, Kokee state park to take in ever more impressive views. Be sure and pack in some water and food to snack... More

It took several hours for us to tour properly, since we were staying up in Princeville. Plan a day around this, find a beach or other area to visit, unless you are staying nearby. And go very early! This is a popular destination. There is at least one hike near the top but it is very challenging -- bring sneakers.... More
