This was our favorite part of our Kauai trip. We drove up highway 150 and stopped at every overview point. Each view was more breathtaking than the last. Then when we got towards the top there's a fork. The right takes you to the Waimea Canyon state park lookout point. This is so good that it could be your final... More

This is an unbelievable place. The vistas are amazing. Be sure to travel all of the park. It is the only place to see the back end of the island from land. The roads are good and driving is easy. Go and enjoy something really special.

Be sure to get an early start on this trip, as the afternoon cloud cover can roll in and totally kill the experience, When we arrived at the top of the drive (Kalalau Lookout) the day was still clear and we had an amazing view down into the Kalalau valley. Half of our group powered up the challenging trail (sometimes... More

If you go to Kauai, you can't skip the Waimea Canyon....it's absolutely breathtaking! As you drive up the mountain the view just keeps getting better and better and better. When we got to the very top and looked out, I can't even describe it. It was like seeing the ocean blend into the gorgeous clouds - you couldn't tell where... More

One of the most spectacular views in America. Requires driving up a narrow winding road with multiple hairpin turns, big tour buses and lots of tourist idiots who are in a hurry. We have enjoyed this special place for many years and only regret that the State has not put a limit on how many cars and buses go up... More

Its a bit of a drive, but 100 photos later we came down the road and rejoiced in enjoying the day peering into Waimea Canyon, waterfalls and Na Pali coast overlook. Absolutely a must do via rental car or tour bus.

We have visited the Canyon on each of out trips to Kauai and highly recommend this attraction and the surrounding ones.Take your time going up 550 and stop at all the scenic lookouts, this is not a race to the top of Haleakala. One can never guarantee clear skies even on this side of the island but arriving in the... More

We booked to go on the Waimea canyon tour as part of a shore excursion on the 7 day cruise on POA. The bus tour getting there was interesting to see the plantations and old sugar mills, with a stop a long the way to see the blowhole on the coast. After arriving at the canyon carpark, the walk up... More

Spectacular. The drive is amazing- the canyon is breathtaking, and the waterfall is cherry on top. It is well worth your time to drive to Waimea Canyon the scenery changes drastically.

We put in Waimea State Park and the GPS tried to take us one way and we ignored it to take Waimea Canyon Rd. It was the best "wrong turn" we've ever made! The drive was fun with twists and turns and many many pulls offs with crazy awesome views! The park also has views that are a must see.... More
