The only reason I don't give it an excellent rating is because of my fear of heights. I felt very uncomfortable the whole time. I'm kind of a wimp. It is a fantastic sight to see though! So, if you want to help yourself overcome, drive on up and take a walk around.

Waimea canyon lookout. This canyon is absolutely fantastic and one can believe that scenes from Jurassic park where filmed here. Do not leave your camera at home. For those with good gear and photo taking expertise you will get some of the best photos you would ever wish to take. In saying food is available there is a few stalls... More

This was our second time at this park, the view is owsome so make sure you have your camera ready to take lots of pictures. Also, my advice for this trip is to go early to avoid traffic and crowded facilities and bring a light jacket, if wind it can get bit chilly up there.

We hired a car and drove up the canyons at our own pace. Beautiful views from many of the lookouts. Well worth the half day trip from Poipu. Found a red dirt waterfall on the way up as well.

Grab the views while you can. We were told to drive to the top and work our way back down. As a result, we lost opportunities for the best views due to rain and thick clouds that covered the entire area as we reached the final leg of the drive. What we could see revealed remarkable sights. Do go. Well... More

Spectacular views and well worth the drive! Make sure to go up by the Waimea Canyon dr. (even though the signs will tell you to drive on) to get a much more scenic drive up to the mountains! There are restrooms up by the lookout and small (portable) shop that sells fruit, snacks and some drinks.

We were fortunate enough to visit the canyon by helicopter and also by car. Breathtaking views. The drive up is not bad and the roads are in really good condition. Multiple places to pull over as well as a few viewpoints. The Pihea trail was a lot of fun as well. Make sure to bring some water as the trail... More

Well worth the drive. The colors and waterfalls are amazing, and plenty of places to stop along the way for amazing views. A must see while on Kauai.

Well worth the drive up to the canyon! I recommend going all of the way up to the state park as well, choose a day/time that isn't expecting rainfall. Tends to cloud up and rain at that elevation. I've been to the Grand Canyon and still found the Canyons impressive.

The canyon is for anyone who wants to see an amazing view! There are plenty of overlooks that anyone can do. For those who want hiking - there are tons to offer. We wished we had the time to stay for several days. Our favorite hike was the Pihea Trail. My kids are fit, but get bored on hikes and... More
