The drive is very winding and steep in places but the road surface good. Some lookout carparks were full and unable to stop but otherwise WOW. Wouldn't miss this one on a trip to Kauai. we had a hire car so went up one way and down the alternate road to go back. A tip is between 11mile and 13... More

It's a bit if a trek, but definitely worth it. The views are quite amazing! Take your time along the way and be sure to go all the way to the end if the road. Lots to see along the way.

There is no doubt that Kauai is simply a beautiful island. I wanted to take a drive to Waimea Canyon, having been there 30 years or so ago, and my twenty-something son was kind of meh. Well, it was gorgeous, the views breathtaking, the waterfalls stunning. We went all the way to the end of the road to see the... More

We travelled by car with one other couple. We left on a Sunday morning at 8am, the highway wasn't busy, it took us approximately two hours to get to the top of the canyon from Princville. The scenery is beautiful, Hawaii's version of the Grand Canyon. It wasn't crowded at that time of day, there is a fruit vendor at... More

This is a must-see location in Kauai. Beautiful canyon. Preserved nature. Stunning views. You will remember this experience for a long time.

My husband and I rented a Harley Davidson for a day and rode the canyon. This was a ride of a lifetime. Beautiful is an under statement. This is a must do if in Kauai.

Out family went to the Waimea Canyon for a hiking trip while we were vacationing. We didn't get to go very far but the views are breathtaking. I would do it all over several times. It was a drive up with ears popping but definitely worth it. There are 3 different hiking trails, one longer than the other. Absolutely beautiful!

This place was amazing! We didn't know much of what to expect, but took the long drive out there anyway. It was well worth it. We didn't do any of the hiking, but we did do sightseeing out there. The sights are gorgeous and require little to no walking to get to them. One little thing I thought was fun... More

I drove to the top of "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and another 18 miles to the end of the road where there is a spectacular lookout where you can see Mount Wai ale'ale, the "wettest spot on earth" (gets an average of 420 inches of rain each year and has received over 700 inches in some years). It... More
