We didn't make it this year but have been to the top (driving) a couple of times. Also part of helicopter tour. Fantastic place. The center is the rainiest spot on earth so if you like waterfalls...

If you're going to Kauai, Waimea Canyon is a must see. Drive to the end of the road and see the museum as well, and the last outlook to the Napali Coastline. What a view!! Also did the hike to the top of the falls. not worth the walk if your not in good shape, there's not much to see... More

This is certainly a must see on your trip to Kauai....rain or shine...which you should expect all in one day!...I lived there for years...so saw it at every season....take a jacket...it is cool up there.

This sight is about a 4 hour journey, with stops for shopping, lunch, and coffee tasting, from Poipu Beach area. The drive up the mountain is a little hectic in places but definitely worth it.

Turn just before the Visitors Information Center in the town of Wiamea and it is about 40 miles of winding, narrow roads with many lookouts along the way. To get the most out of this journey you need to go to the very end of the road where there is an amazing vantage point! There are also hiking trails in... More

This is a beautiful drive with many fantastic views. We were very fortunate and there wasn't a lot of cloud cover, so when we made it to the top of the drive we had beautiful clear views. There are actually 2 state parks, first is Waimea Canyon and you'll continue into Ko'kee State Park. We decided to drive all the... More

This canyon is beautiful in a way much different than the beach beauties on Kaua'i. It is especially beautiful when it is slightly cloudy and the shadows of the clouds ripple over the colorful canyon.

Beautiful canyon that can be done in a same trip as Kalalau Lookout. If you are staying for a longer period of time, stay in one of the lodges near the canyon. There are few nice hike in the area.

Beautiful drive, a long way up to the final lookout but worth every miles. Dozens of trails also start at various miles markers. We did a few of them in one day. The trails are definitely the highlights of the trip there. Whilst not very hard, it gives you a nice way to exercise your legs after a long drive.... More

I heard visiting in the early morning is better in terms of avoiding cloud coverage. We got there around noon-ish and some clouds had moved in. Still had amazing views - except when we drove to the furthest look-out (inside the national park) where the fog was so dense we couldn't even see the car in front of us. Apparently,... More
