We stayed in Poipu in early August and thoroughly enjoyed our drive up the Waimea Canyon and Koke'e state park. We left by 9am and did not encounter any low clouds or fog! There is a red dirt area with a stream that makes for neat photos about half way up. The main vista for the canyons is well marked... More

Make sure you go all the way to the end past the visitor center! That's where you see the Napali Coast!!! It's usually raining of at the top so bring an umbrella or a towel. You can't miss this if you are in Kauai! Plenty of stops along the way up! Very winding roads so if you are prone to... More

Wonderful landscape, nice trail with kids. Difficult to find food around. You must bring a picnic. Nice falls.

My family visited Waimea Canyon June 30th and July 1st and the weather was perfect. We took our time driving up in our tiny rental car and checked out every one of the pullout areas with views on the way up. We stayed at the Koke'e Lodge that night so that we would not have to rush down in the... More

There are 2 accessible views of the canyon. I think that most people know about the first spot but do not go further to the top to see the view of the canyon and the Na Pali Coast. Always look to the top of the mountain before you attempt to go up. If you see it is cloudy on top... More

As there was a storm heading towards Hawaii during our holiday on Kauai we decided to cram in as many things as possible before the storm arrived. AS it turned out it was a non event on Kauai just a few heavy showers and a bit windy for a day . We looked at the various options to visit the... More

If you aren't a hiker, then you can simply drive up the road and stop at the various viewpoints. If you like to hike, then there are several different trails of varying lengths you can travel. Either way, you'll be rewarded with some great views of this beautiful island.

the canyon is just beautiful and there are a lot of lookouts to check it out from. Plus if you're a hiker there are tons of trails to explore. Definite must visit place if you come to Kauai and make sure to take a boat tour to the coastal view of the canyon.

Waimea Canyon was one of the tours I wanted to do when in Kauai and I must say that it is really spectacular! It's quite a drive from Kappaa but it's a very nice drive along the southern shores to Waimea. When you go there make sure your attire is adequate: walking shoes, cap, lots of sun lotion, a light...
