At the end of the road is this view. It was clear in the early morning. To get here, drive past the canyon lookout road and you will come here about 20 minutes later. Beautiful view!

So, I understand the climate changes in a matter of seconds on the island and that's what makes it unique. Unfortunately, when we visited it was a light rain, with clouds... But you can appreciate being on top of the mountain, feel the tranquility, watch the birds, and feel the breeze on your face... Awwwww

The views, its all about the views. Weather is unpredictable up here it rains and can clear up in a few moments and then the rainbows! If you want great pictures bring your tripod.

loved being up in these mountains.. if i were to do it again I would have stopped at the visitor's center for maps and a little more information. That would be my best advise for future travelers

The views of the coast are so beautiful they seem unreal. Great hiking but be careful. I've hiked all over the Sierra Mountains, Cascades, and Appalachians. This trail was the scariest thing I've ever done. A portion of the trail was choked with 6 foot tall grass we had to pick our way through all the while hoping we were... More

The hikes are wonderful, trails well maintained, and vistas are out of this world. In May 2013, the cliff trails were closed, but it is still worth hiking out to the cliffs, even if you can't hike along them.

Breathtaking canyon at both official lookouts along Waimea Canyon SP, and nice large green lawn surrounded by woods to have picnic in Kokee SP, but if you want to see anything from Kakalau lookout at the end of the run, plan around cloud cover, be plenty patient, bring your pants/longsleeves (~50-55 deg F), and pop some dramamine for entire drive... Multiple hike options each leading to incredible vistas. Best visited on dry days and start as early in the day as possible.

Stop into the visitor centre for guide books and naturalist books of Kauai. Good info of the natural history of the park and Kauai (also the flora and fauna). Be sure to toss in a couple of bucks in the donation jar if you do to help fund the place! Had a great day of hiking on a few of... More
