This is a unique activity on the island. Join us for an intimate experience aboard a 45 foot Traditional Hawaii Sailing Canoe, made by one of the young owners. The canoe has sailed throughout the Hawaiian islands, and provides an experience that even our kama'aina (locals) have yet to experience. The sail is an hour and a half aboard the sailing canoe, in which we tour all of Hanalei Bay and see the breathtaking landscape just how it was seen from offshore by the ancient Hawaiians. Our team is made up of experienced watermen and women that have grown up in and around the water and want to share this beautiful lifestyle that they have with their guests. The team is knowledgeable about the host culture, the making of sailing canoes, paddling and the ocean.

Boarded the outrigger fitted with a sail and the fun began immediately. Jeremy included us in every minute of our adventure and regaled us with local lore about the waterfalls, mountains and valleys. We sailed out, dropped anchor and jumped in to snorkel. We saw at least 7 "honu" ( sea turtles ) including a baby one! My most memorable... More

Island Sails is one of the outfits you can find at the St. Regis Hotel. We did a private sunset sail on the outrigger sailing canoe with Jeremy. Incredible experience at sunset in the open seas. Thrilling.

We had seen these boats sailing around Hanalei Bay on a previous visit but it took a little hunting to figure out how to get a ride. I really liked the small boats, putting you right on the water with just a few passengers. I ended up driving over to the St Regis to find out more and booked a... More

Beautiful day with a wonderful group of people. Heard some Tahitian drumming and a fire knife dancer by the pier! The sunset was absolutely perfect. Jeremy was awesome and congratulations to the happy couple celebrating their honeymoon! Thank you for a wonderful day and early evening. You'll really enjoy it!

My boyfriend and I were on Kauai last week and were referred to Island Sails by the St. Regis Princeville. We had such a memorable time during the romantic sunset sail. Jeremy, our lovely host, took us around Hanalei Bay in this wonderful, authentic, sailing canoe where we went past Queen's Bath, in front of Mount Makana, and all throughout... More

This was the highlight of my vacation. I did the am sail on a gorgeous morning and snorkeled with lots of turtles, then came back for an afternoon tour. Trevor, Ivory, and Jeremy are very experienced and passionate water people and clearly love their corner of Paradise.Cant wait to come back and do it again!

Sailing out on Hanalei Bay on a hand crafted sailing canoe was a magical experience. Ivory and Jeremy our hosts were warm, welcoming and a lot of fun. You will love every minute of this very special sail. Mahalo

My wife and I are both traditional mono hull sailors and had never experienced a traditional Hawaiian sailing canoe, what a fun experience! We sailed with Jeremy and Ivory who both are a delight and full of information on the area and Hawaiian traditions. Viewing a sunset on Hanalei Bay is very different from the shore. One feels to be... More

I feel like this is a must do for anybody who wants to experience a part of Hawaiian Culture and history, as well as enjoy beautiful Hanalei Bay. The canoe was hand-built by Trevor, which in and of itself, is spectacular. A traditional Hawaiian Sailing Canoe allows you to experience sailing in a unique cultural way - a part of... More

While on our annual Kauai trip this August I had the misfortune of falling and splitting my head open on a lava rock. Luckily, Ivory, one of the Island Sails employees was passing by and saw me fall. Her response was immediate! Before I knew what had happened she had wrapped her wet suit shirt around my head, made sure... More
