This site is an overlook to the rugged coast. The waves crash a slight distance away and the geyser-like waterspout is delayed. Sometimes it's a little puff, sometimes it's several stories high. Wait for it. Everyone standing at the fence plays the timing game, hoping to get a good picture. There's a structure with touristy kitsch off the parking lot... More

I'm glad I saw Spouting Horn, and honestly I thought it was pretty cool, but I probably wouldn't go back. It spouts consistently with the waves. Note that you cannot walk down to the spout, but can watch from an observation area. If you're interested in combining geology and souvenir shopping, it'll perfect for you, because there are plenty of... More

Kauai is blessed with natural wonders, and it's impossible to see them all on a single trip. Spouting Horn merits a look for those already on the south shore. The vista can be cluttered with camera-toting international daytrippers looking to snag a selfie or two, but the buses usually stay only a couple minutes, and a little patience can result... More

It is free - maybe the only thing in Hawaii. It is awesome. It is accessible. There is a gauntlet of vendor kiosks you have to walk to get to the attraction, but you can skip it and they are not aggressive.

Spouting Horn is one of those things every tourist to Kauai must do, once, and only once. It is cool to see the waves spout through the lava hole, but the charm wears off after about 5 minutes and a dozen pictures. The vendor tables are full of tourist trinkets.

It is a great place to visit when the waves are high. The spray from the spouts are wonderful. They do have these trinket shops set up along side of the trail.

We visited Spouting Horn lots over the course of our vacation. It was great on days when the swells were high, always had a good chance of seeing turtles in the inlet .

Yup, it spouts, you say "ooooh" then you move on avoiding the tents of chachkees. Great time when you're just driving around, and want to say "ooooh" to something else besides the great surf and beaches. (Wouldn't go out of my way for it though)

The spouting horn is a particular place in the reefs off of Poipu that when a ocean swell or wave hits it right you will see a geyser of water shoot high in the air. It's in a park just past the botanical gardens. All of the surroundings are beautiful and it's one of the most picturesque areas in Hawaii.

We were in the area and decided to pop over and see if Spouting Horn was anything to see. The waves were rough and so there was definitely a "horn" sound being made as the water crashed over the rocks. We only spent about 5 or 10 minutes there, but definitely worth checking out when nearby.
