Stopped to see Spouting Horn after touring the Allerton gardens. Fun to watch the surf come in and then shoot up the hole in the lava. I'm sure everyone would enjoy seeing this if they are in the area.

Easy to get to in the Poipu area near Koloa town off highway 50 going west about 10 miles out of Lihue and just south of highway 50. There are several vendors selling their wares and they aren't all like you see elsewhere. Like the whole beautiful island of Kauai you will see some beautiful flowers and clean restrooms but... If the waves are active, so will be the Spouting Horn. In the winter months, whales are frequently active, but you have to be quick about it. A row of concession shops offer the chances to pick up gifts for those who you left at home, ranging from pearl earrings and such to tchochkes (sp?) that will show your friends... More

Fun and close by. Wouldn't travel across the island to see it . It was close to our hotel. Best to see on a high surf day. It is free and free parking.

Great photo op place! Try to go when the large buses of tourists are not there (go early or late). We've seen beautiful sunsets there as well as turtles and whales. The volume of water that shoots up varies with high and low tides.

I agree that it is definitely worth stopping to view the sight, but I wouldn't travel too far to only spend 10 minutes here. Combine this viewing with another itinerary such as a trip to Waimea Canyon.

This was a cool thing to see but you won't spend more than 5 minutes looking at it so don't go out of your way to see it if you are not having a look at things in the area!

Surf was up so the spout was big. Had a good time looking at the chickens and the spouting horn. Only takes a few minutes to see this attraction but it is worth it. Kids liked seeing the water spout and hearing the ocean roar.

It was nice, quaint and worth the drive. The vendors at the location also had nice items to offer and were not pushy. The water spouting through is fun to photograph.

This is a neat phenomena that occurs when sea water is forced through lava tubes. It creates a spectacular spray and a strange hornlike sound from connected tubes. It's a short stop - easily accessible to wheelchairs or strollers. We also saw sea turtles and of course - Roosters!! There was a neat little bazaar set up along the side... More
