The finer parts of the garden could be condensed into a smaller garden, then a nice pool would fit in there.

My husband and I "discovered" this garden as we explored around the vicinity of our hotel, Sheraton Kauai. This place has a wide variety of orchids and cacti. One has to be very careful when walking around the garden as some of the cacti are very old and some of them grew to be so huge. You can easily get... More

The operative word here is "FREE". Beautiful collection of cactus and orchids. Takes about 1/2 hr. and is just off main Poipu Rd.

We were there on a very hot day. It was out in the open with very little shade so be warned. We loved strolling the grounds but would have loved to have some information about the various plants. There are no signs that label the plants, no informative hand outs, no human being around to answer questions.

This is a fun place for a quick garden walk. The cactus and succlents were planted by the plantain manager's wife and some of these things are huge. Beautifully maintained its a nice place for a garden lover.

Fantastic variety of flowers and cacti, carefully tended by master gardeners. Parking and access are free and the gardens are just steps from the ocean.

I'm not a fan of cactus, but there is an extensive cactus garden, for those who do like it. Orchids and gingers are a completely different thing. It is amazing to me to see orchids growing outdoors, year round! And they are stunningly beautiful. The walk through the garden is delightful, under trees in filtered sun. The cactus garden was... It's free & there are no gates of any sort so you can pretty much walk in at any time (~5 minute walk from the Sheraton). Initially looked small but kept following the paths & it's actually quite large. Nice area to visit for an evening stroll.

I visited the garden at the end of June. The orchid walk is as spectacular as always. Some of the ponds are being rehabbed. The succulent garden was disappointing. This trip, it looked somewhat abandoned. There was a downed tree blocking some of the paths - and it looked like it had been there for a while.

We stayed at the Koa Kea which is right next door to the garden. It was really a beautiful property compared to our hotel that had only simple landscaping. I hope someone spends more time keeping the cactus area in better shape. It looks a little worn out but still worth the walk and it's free!
