Best snorkeling we had in Hawaii. Just a few yards from shore there are hundreds of tropical fish who don't seem to be intimidated by human beings. But be careful. You are snorkeling in very shallow water and can scrape against rocks. Moderate waves. Easy enough to get in and out of water without getting knocked around.

The swimming area is shallow and conducive to family wading and also snorkeling for beginners. There are shade trees and designated picnic areas.

Get there early as it gets very busy. They have a breakwater there so there's a safer area for the kids to swim.

Nice protected beaches for non swimmers but not great for snorkeling. It is close to Brenneke's fish restaurant.

Poipu Beach Park was right down the street from the Grand Hyatt so it was a frequent destination. It was very nice with facilities and a variety of beaches for kids (and adults) of all ages/abilities. Facing out to the horizon, the left side is a small cove surrounded by rocks that keeps the water very calm and is obviously... More

Easy entry-protected by a sandbar. Thousands of fish!! Pretty shallow but not so shallow as to fear scrapes. Lots of places to rinse off at the edge of the beach.

This is my next favorite beach in Kauai after Ke'e beach. Great sand formation, protected by the reef. Showers, restrooms and life guards on duty. Ample parking space and some restaurants nearby. The water was great, calm in the afternoon and great to snorkel.

Parking, shade trees, restrooms, showers, lifeguards, sandy beach, beautiful ocean, very nice snorkeling and...honu. Turtles come close to shore to feed so people can see them even without a mask and fins.
