This beach was very crowded during our visit. It is a nice beach to take children as the water is calm and you can get in it. A seal did come onto the bank to rest for the day so that was very interesting.

Good snorkel spot, especially if you have kids. We saw a large amount of fish. This beach can be very crowded, but it is still a nice sandy beach if you manage to go when crowds are gone. Plenty of parking across the street and bathroom facilities.

We went for snorkeling which was only fair and didn't spend much time on the beach before and after. It is crowded and caters to the south beach resorts. Sunny and sandy with convenient parking and easy entry into the water for wading and swimming.

Apparently Poipu Beach is one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island. It is mainly rocks but there are many different beautiful tropical fish. The beach is large but fairly crowded. Larger surf in summer, small in winter. Although, it's not bad in the summer (usually). It's shallow so beware when snorkeling. Bring umbrella, not much shade on this... More

Poipu Beach park has to be one of the cleanest beach parks on the island. I haven't gone there in years but recently visited for a baby shower in one of the pavilions. Very clean (even the bathrooms). They had a nice playground for kiddie. I didn't bring my swim suit but I wished I did!

Great location and a wonderful beach. Everything you could ask for with Brennecke's across the street. Parking can be a real challenge although there is a free public parking lot - look for it.

Very family friendly, ample parking, restaurant, restrooms, picnic tables, grills, good child friendly bay. Lifeguard on a portion of the beach. Saw a big turtle napping on the sand.Good snorkeling off to the right but no lifeguard. A great place to spend the day.

We visited this beach specifically to snorkel. There were a lot of great fish, but the water was very rough when we were there (afternoon in late May). The beach has great bathroom/shower facilities nearby. The beach is small so there is not a lot of walking, but it was crowded. The surrounding view of cliffs, and water, and beach... More

Poipu Beach Park is a great place to take the family. The beach is protected by a stone breakwater and provides little kids with a safe place to swim and enjoy the beach. The park has many picnic tables, a large grass area and playground. Across the street is Bernnecke's Beachfront Restaurant. They have a deli and serve shave ice,... More

The protected bay provides safe opportunities to swim and snorkel. The beach is pretty, but not very big - and crowded. For people used to mainland beaches or long swaths of sand on Maui, the south shore beaches are tiny. That shouldn't stop you from visiting Poipu, however. With a lifeguard, restrooms, a shower, picnic tables, and parking across the... More
