There is a quaint building about 10 min from the airport. The building is packed with all the different verities of Rum that Koloa Rum Company distills, along with some Hawaiian flair. There is a small Rum Tasting sign up sheet next to the check out. This is where you can get your free Rum Tasting, there is no tour.... More

First of all, this is not a tour, but a tasting room, for those of you who thought you were going out to the cane fields and a distillery. We had a fine tasting of 4 rums. This rum is higher priced than something from Costco, as it is made on the island. Yes, everyone no matter your age, must... More

We went specifically for the rum, but also did the train ride. There are only 4 rums, but all are great. The tasting is well done and you get the story with some local flare. Grown and distilled on the island makes this a winner. Definitely recommend this for your visit. You can get the Gold rum at Costco for... More

The tasting was great. Tips only, no charge, and we had rum punch plus 3 different rums. Keo (sp?) was an excellent host and told us the history of the rum company and sugar on the island. Great way to spend a few minutes with no pressure to buy, though we did spend some $.

Recommend visiting the Koloa Rum Company after the train ride and visit to the Kilohana Plantation; cap your experience off with this fun activity. We are not rum people per se so we didn't know what to expect. We were fortunate enough to make the last tasting of the day. The Koloa rum shop is small and cute but its... More

We've been visiting the Koloa Rum Co. on the way to Poipu beach since they first started making rum. After leaving the airport our first stops are Walmart, Costco, and Koloa Rum. They conduct tastings which really tells the story behind their rums (which are now distributed throughout the mainland). Since sugar cane (one of the main ingredients of rum)... More

What a great tourist attraction. Loved the taste testing and all the knowledge I gained from the informative host. He was "the best" He really made the stop worth while. The Rum was great as well. Loved the gift shop. Made my gift shopping easy. A must to see on the island of Kauai.

We took the short train ride and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tiny, the tour guide was funny and had several great hints about picking out fresh fruit. Stopping to feed the pigs, goats, and chickens was cute. Then we went for a rum tasting. Do the tasting before buying anything in the gift shop. That way you know what you really... More

Tasting only lasts 15mins but the tastes are amazing. They have 5 different rum offerings - all very good considering they are a very young distillery. The 'bartender' was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer all of our questions. The gift shop has bottles to purchase along with bubble/protective sleeves that allowed for our Spiced Rum to make it... More

I had first tasted this rum on Oahu. A friends father in law had been to Kauai and to the tasting, and bought some when he returned to Hawaii to visit. They were just sitting around drinking the dark rum on ice. So I was curious and tasted it - by this point the men were on their second bottle... More
