This is my third trip to Kauai - and each time we've gone to a different Lu'au. But THIS one was the BEST! The entire experience was great. When going in, you immediately can head right to the bar for a drink - then mill around with local artists (beautiful things - especially the photos - breathtaking!). All during the... More

They say it's an all you can eat buffet, but watch out. If you stop to chew, they ask you if you are done. If you set your fork down they take it! And you better hurry if you want seconds the cover everything up. Then they tell you to for get dessert because the show is about to start.... More

After three trips to Hawaii, it was time for our first luau. After much deliberation, we decided on the Kalamaku Luau at the Kilohana Plantation as sounding like the best suited to our tastes. We were not disappointed. The food, while not the star of the show, was better than most buffets I have experienced -- even the poi. The... More

Vegas style. The round stage-in-the-middle of the 1000-seat- theatre makes every seat a good one. The story line is one of a father, remembering a time of struggle, recalling a decision and a journey to the new land. The contemporary and not-so-traditional luau items were tastier, healthier, and more appetizing - Lomi Lomi with tofu; roasted chicken; and table-set green... More

Both the food and show were pretty good overall when you consider the amount of people. Food was good considering it was buffet. Desserts were kind of boring, but still tasted good. The show was non traditional, but that was ok. Neat to see another version of it. Liked it better than Smiths.

The luau show was very good, although the sound system was poorly set up and you couldn't understand the story being told. When we went to sit outside the pavilion, we could hear just fine, but inside was bad. The dancers were really great. The food, however was just a regular buffet with a few choices, but not very good.... More

We really liked the location of this luau. We knew most luaus are a little tacky, but this one is held on an old sugar plantation, very pretty. You get to tour the mansion. The show was very nice and tasteful, excellent hula and fire dancers. The food however was only fair. Especially for the money. Plus it was soooo... More

First visit to Kauai and this is a must see. Truly a well prepared show. From the wait staff to the over the top entertainers, it's pure Hawaii. Glad we went and would do it again. Plenty of food ,good too, and plenty to drink. The fire dancers will have you on the edge of your seat.

I would highly recommend the ticket only option of this Luau. The food was not consistent in quality. Some dishes were good, others not so good. The pork should be skipped.

Short version: fun, authentic, not cheesy, lovely environment, terrific performers and most of all a wonderful glimpse into the beginnings of Kauai's first people. Not inexpensive, food is okay and you'll be in the company of lots of others, so be prepared. Go for the performers--they're worth it all.
