This Luau is entertaining but not a good representation of the traditional ancient Hawaiians culture. The gardens are beautiful. The buffet food was healthy and delicious. The show was entertaining with colourful dancers set against the backdrop of a pretend volcano and waterfall in the gardens. My kids (11 & 7 years old) loved it. Good value for money but... More

Sept 3 2014 After reading many reviews, we decided to go to the Smith family luau. it was not only entertaining, but the food and alcohol was plentiful. The grounds were fabulous. The staff was friendly and knowledgable in a variety of cultural dances and traditions, was very educational. I believe this was money well spent, an would differently recommend... More

My family (range in ages 1 to 68) had a great time from beginning to end. Yes, it's very touristy and pretty cheesy at times, but all done with fun and a sense of humor. You can tell the "family" takes pride in their work. There are literally hundreds of people, but it is all so well organized, it is... More

Paying for this luau was the only thing that my husband I spent money on that we regretted spending. The garden was very beautiful. The food was average-really nothing special. The entertainment was just sad. We respectfully stayed to the end, but at least 30% of the audience left pretty early on. The only act that was good was the... More

We visited the Smith Family Luau during our recent stay in Kauai. Had a fabulous time, just need to understand what you are getting into! This is a very large touristy event, so expect tons of people. I felt it was all rather organized however given the amount of ppl there. The grounds were beautiful, I thought the train ride... More

Pros: - Beautiful garden. - Good teriyaki beef. Cons: Let me count the ways. From the moment you drive in, you're herded. Literally. You're herded into a parking spot, processed through a line-up like cattle about to be slaughtered, and shipped on a conveyor belt tram to see a brief tour of the gardens led by someone who essentially point... We wanted to see some of the "Dukes" memorabilia and the last built solid Koa dug out canoe. Lots of historical significant artifacts and history to be had here. Definitely a must see for the history buff.

We have been to Kauai a number of times and have wanted to try the Smith Family Luau. The garden was outstanding and the food could not have been better. When it came to the girls Hula dancing it was embarrassing when three of them were bigger than the guys. I am not talking a little bit bigger. I am... More

I loved the family feel of this Luau. I had been to the Kalamaku luau on Kilohana Plantation and didn't think I would ever enjoy another luau as much but these two luaus are like having kids...you love them both the same but they are different, lol. I met the sweetest Lady...Aunty Cecelia, the grounds were absolutely beautiful...more than I... More
